Last I checked NBA awards Rings to NBA champs. We get rings, so Detroit can shove that belt where the sun don't shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The belts were Sheed's thing, and you'd have to amazingly understand the guy to realize that he's just a big kid at heart and the belts were just part of the gimmick.
If the Detroit players keep 'em, fine. If the Spurs get them, they could pull a Hulk Hogan and spray paint on them: "SA" in black.
Otherwise, I'm sure the rings would be enough to suffice.
I still say no reason to hate on the belts. As Stons4Life said, it's a fun gimmick. If the Spurs find a gimmick to have fun with, they should enjoy it, because they earned it. Whether you like it or not, we enjoyed the belts in Detroit, and it really doesn't matter if San Antonio was "in" on it.
Although, I'd love to see Sheed and Timmy go on David Letterman's show, have Sheed hand him the belt. It's all for fun, and shouldn't be taken too serious by anyone. But, there's nothing wrong with just letting it die, either.
I don't the NBA has anything to do with it. It's what the winning team wants to do.
I liked the belts, sort of a good locker-room inside joke.
