    Jason Kidd, who just signed with the New York Knicks, was arrested on Sunday morning on an alleged drunken driving charge, according to Southampton Town police.

    Details are still emerging, but Southampton Town police confirmed that the basketball star was arrested during the midnight shift.

    Kidd, 39, was arraigned on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday morning in Southampton Town Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.

    Sag Harbor attorney Eddie Burke Jr. said he was on his way to speak with Kidd. "We await further discovery from the district attorney's office," Burke said.

    Kidd signed a three-year, $9.5 million deal with the Knicks on Thursday.

    Kidd, a long-time NBA point guard, bought a house last year in Water Mill for a reported $5.97 million

    • Details of Kidd's arrest, according to police: "At 1:56 a.m Kidd crashed his 2010 Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole near Cobb Rd. in Southampton, LI. It was a single vehicle accident, no passengers. Kidd was treated for minor injuries and released from Southampton Hospital, transferred to Southampton police station for processing, arraigned this morning on misdemeanor DWI charge and released."

    why is it that Spur fans race to the front of the line when it comes to being a hypocrite...listen we've all driven drunk at some point in our lives...we've all smoked Mary Jane...and some of us may have even tried a little bit of Cocaine..(if you've tried ecstasy you've tried cocaine) I used to drink and drive all the the time from age 16-25...not saying it was right but it happened...if you frequent bars (which many middle aged people do) you've likely driven drunk...

    LL Cool J said it best..."They say don't drink and drive... I say what is this...pass the Heineken and mind your bizness."
