I'm more interested in the ratio of GNSF posts about Kobe to Duncan
Kobe has one of the highest user rates in history, not surprisingly as we all know he likes the ball in his hands.....and we know he isn't afraid to take shots... but has his attempts effected the Lakers ability to win games??
(basketballreference.com)
Kobe has shot 30 or more times in a game 118 times. Lakers won 51 times for a winning percentage of 43.2%
Kobe shot 25 or more times in a game 356 times. Lakers won 193 of those games for a winning percentage of 54.2%.
Kobe shot 20 or LESS times in a game 752 times. Lakers won 540 of those games for a winning percentage of 71.8%
Kobe shot 15 or LESS times in a game 378 times. Lakers won 274 of those games for a winning percentage of 72.5%
**What is truly amazing about the first two stats (30,25) is that the Lakers while Kobe has been on the team have won almost 66% of the time. Basically you have to gather that when Kobe defer's and plays team basketball, the Lakers are very hard to beat. When he dominates the ball and shots, the Lakers are not only mediocre, but downright crappy.
Last year Kobe shot the most shots per game since 06. This year with Nash (and of course Gasol and Bynum - maybe) it is interesting to see if he will allow his shots to go down, deferring to this very talented team-mates.
Opinions/ Comments??

5 new Kobe threads when he is a TOSB and also a pretty much a non factor on Team USA ... the obsession with this guy is pretty crazy. His prime was over two season ago. Sure he is still a top 10 all-time player and maybe still one in today's game but not deserving of this much attention. It's Lebron's and to a lessor degree Durant's world now.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of those 15 shots or less games came during blowouts, where Kobe sat most of the 4th quarter, thus lowering his shot total. So clearly they would win most of those games.
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that most games where Kobe shoots 25+ are tightly contested games against equal opponents, where your best player is expected to take alot of shots, and where you're probably only going to win half the time.
Tbh, I don't get why Kobe stays so popular with so many other noteworthy players out there now. Lebron should be the most popular player in the world, but Kobe's overseas fans probably rival Yao's peek fame in China.
Even a lot of spurfans, Rivals of the Lakers and should detest the guy, can't stop talking about him![]()
127 of them were 35 minutes or more - for a record of 86-41 (67.8%)
251 of them were 34 minutes or less - for a record of 188-63 (74.9%)
182 of them were less than 30 minutes - for a record of 137-45 (75.3%)
...no bias here....just posting interesting stats. Make of them what you will...
You guys just pissed pass1st off. Enough Kobe bashing.
I didn't even read OP, tbh. I just find it funny how GNSF post about Kobe more than Duncan in many cases.
I'm not a Kobe fan, made that clear. He's inefficient and has been out of it since 10/11
I get why Spur fans hate him or even other fanbases ... he is one arrogant prick, who has delivered many daggers while being an asshole. But why keep bringing him up? Even by bashing him you give him relevancy. IF anyone is deserving of a sticky thread or weekly threads in the NBA right now it's James, not Kobe. I did think the leopard print phone stuff was funny but the Kobe stuff is beaten to death and even I see no point in defending him. You cant really argue his legacy except with contemporaries (Duncan, Dirk, Nash, KG, Pierce) since he is not retired yet. When I joined here he was still arguably the best player in the game ...now he is not. And hasnt been for at LEAST 3 years. Even the most ardent Kobe fans have to admit that. Every year he should be LESS relevant not more, and he will need even MORE help to win #6.
Im a Kobe fan, but a Laker fan first and you just have to be honest Kobe maybe a bigger global star than anyone today but his game is no longer deserving of that status, and the number of Kobe-centric posts/threads here should reflect that.
Real talk, tbh. I don't care if people talk about Kobe because he deserves most of it, but the amount of attention given to him compared to players like Lebron is just baffling.
But by all means keep posting them if you wish. But most of the fan that care are gone: Allanon, Luva, Cully really only Cobbler and Kool CARE that much.
I would gladly argue at some point Kobe vs. duncan vs. KG etc. and some day Kobe vs. Magic vs. Bird.
But Kobe currently is arguably not even a top 5 player on this Olympic team.
Let's not pretend Lebron didn't get this much attention when he was a choking hazard, tbh...
It's just backlash against the Kobrick stans who spent years outlandishly hyping him up as "better than Jordan" when he's really just a selfish ball-stopping Jordan imitator, tbh....
Tbh, it was mostly a 15 seconds of fame kind of thing. Few threads when he misses a winner or defers. Kobe can sit on his ass, watch keeping up with the Kardashians while Vanessa moves around the money in his bank account and a Kobe thread will be made.
I just dunno why non-kobe fans are more obsessed than the kobe & laker fans
In no particular order except the first...
Jordan
Magic
Bird
Russell
Kareem
Shaq
Wilt
Duncan
Oscar
LeClutch, aka Ring James
Hakeem
Jerry West
Karl Malone
Stockton
Pippen
Barkley
I'd take ANY of those cats over Kobrick in a second.....
Kobe is just a much easier target because he has provided much more ammo: raped, snitched, diamonds, churches, etc. kobe-fan gets severely butthurt when those are brought up.
Lebron has the receding hairline thing going, but after winning the ship being the top guy on his team, he just killed a lot of material: not1not2not3, choker, delegating, etc.
But that WAS a story. The best player in the game was failing to close. Was is it a shock that Kobe choked a game against the Thunder or that the Lakers did not win? OKC had the best player, better coach and team. antNot once (except the game Kobe choked away) did I feel like the Lakers were the better team. Durant was the best player in that series and Westbrook was second or close to it.
For me it's kind of like the love for Peyton Manning(and some of the hate). Both have great regular season numbers, great fundamentals and are driven students of the game. Both hit their peaks about 3 years ago and have been up and down in the clutch, even when in their primes. Manning was injured last year Kobe spent his chucking for a pseudo le contender. Neither are relevant for a le right now but still generate way too much buzz ... neither are deserving of that anymore since neither are top 5 players ...
Lebron was deserving of those stories, and he is deserving of even more now both good and bad.
Sorry Killa, but true kobefan would NEVER willingly hand over the "best player in the game" to Lebron prior to him winning the ship & mvp. These are things we know.
And he'll get them. I'm sure if he would be stinking at the Olympics, he'll get axed to the ground. He's just the team leader right now (along with KD) and it shows.
Plus, as I said, he's just less vulnerable. Kirby caught pants down with a couple of hoes is big drama, for obvious reasons. Lebron in the same situation isn't news.
There are no more Kobe-fans left here, besides that one stat-fan that is obsessed with Duncan.
A lot of Kobrick stans STILL won't do it.... Too fixated on ring count instead of context, too delusional to realize that Ring James has already surpassed all of Kobrick's second-banana-at-best les...
The rest are worthy debates but again I wont delve in to that here because I would be doing the same thing Im crticizing others for. What is the last relevant thing that Kobe has done basketball wise that has been news worthy? He shot more shots and still lost the scoring le to KD. sure at his age the scoring totals were good, but his FG% suffered for it. Other than that he said his squad led by James could win at least ONE game against the Dream Team.
Nothing else I have read on here is thread worthy about Kobe at this point except that funny image of him with that Kardashian like Iphone case ...
I'm no true Kobe fan, but that part I agree with. Felt the same about MJ. The torch is not yours until you ring. But with both MJ and Lebron (and Kobe to a lessor degree) most people knew it was only a matter of time, before they rung. To be honest I still elieve Lebron has a chance to pass them both. Some already believe he has Kobe especially and not just silly Clipper fan ...
Oh, but they'll be back when real basketball starts again to remind us Kirby has to take 40 shots because Pau and Bynum suck, despite shooting 50%+ from the field.
I know Killa, we agree a lot of times and you're definitely not a kobe lovefest guy or a Lebron hater either...
I'm just saying that hating on Kobe is so much easier, especially because of the situations he gets himself into...
Will Kobe be the 4th best player on its team next season?
