Gilbert Arenas is nearing an agreement on a one-year contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, a source told Yahoo! Sports.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--gi...-22281709.html

Now China has a number of former NBA players this year:

    1. Stephon Marbury: 3 years in CBA, won championship last year with Beijing
    2. Tracy McGrady: signed 1 year with Qingdao this month. (about 1 million)
    3. Von Wafer: signed 1 year with Xinjiang on August.
    4. Al Thorton: signed 1 year with Zhejiang this month.
    5. Yi Jianlian: signed 1 year with Guangdong on September.
    6. Arenas:?

Allen Iverson also visited China this summer, he wanted to continue his career in CBA, but after some exhibition games, no CBA team had showed any interest to him due to his poor physical condition.

One big reason for these players to choose CBA is that CBA playoffs ends by April, if they play well, they will have a good chance of returning to NBA before playoffs start.

Is Allen Iverson in that poor of shape that he can't even make a CBA team? He used to be one of my favorite players. What is he doing? Where did he play the last year or so?

Sad state of affairs. Why not retire with some dignity Arenas? You've made like $150 - $200 mil in your career and you want to play for them Chinese?

good to see riverwalk back with the inside work but i don't think players who've signed contracts with clubs will be allowed to play NBA this season, they could do so last season because of the lockout and if you sign a contract with a s club this year your stuck in there until at least the season is done.

Tracy McGrady has officially arrived China today. A breif press conference at airport was cancelled for security reasons. The number of medias and fans were much more than expected.

After lunch T-Mac demanded a training session, but the arena is now under a reconstruction, increasing seats from 4700 to 18000. Instead, he just inspected the arena and said he was satisfied with it.

ok, if so. after this season, if they have good stats in CBA, maybe it's better than sitting on bench in NBA.

in interview T-Mac said he never gives up his NBA career and he hopes after this CBA season he would get back in shape and stay healthy.

but seems starbury enjoys his time in China right now, he claimed early on that he would definitely not go back to NBA, in where he got so much dissapointment.

Actually not every NBA player could make good stats there. like last year's kenyon martin and jr smith. oh and they are not washed up yet. btw last year stabury played extremely well, he outplayed arron brooks in pg matchup and averaged 31+6 in finals. he told media if he's still in NBA, he'd make top 5 among pgs.

seems you've ignored the lockout last year one more time, s who didn't have private training facilities needed them games to stay in form and chinese league wasn't a bad choice for that purpose. china got some stupid clubs who're willing to piss away $ for them washed up players which's also a reason why they've attracted quite a number of TOSB stars including but not limited to basketball players. in soccer they got Drogba and many others and are about to land lampard next year
