15 runs for the Yankees?![]()
The Red Sox might as well just pull an Invincible and start trying out random people in Boston to be relievers. It couldn't be worse than what we've had.
15 runs for the Yankees?![]()
Up 9-0, and they can't even hold that lead. Unbelievable. This goes back to the end of last year. It was CLEAR as day that they needed help in both the starting rotation AND in the bullpen, and yet NOTHING was done. Frustrating as ....
Bill Simmons must be rolling right now
LOL doesn't cover it. This team is shameful.
Glad I live in NY so I dont have to put up with the misery going on in Boston.
I would've loved to catch this game
Those chowds were probably loving life going into the 7th, thinking, "Finally, I get to see my team win AND crush the Yankees."![]()
I blame Fox.
They switched to Humbert's perfect game. When they came back it was 5-9.
I was like the ??
Then proceeded tolater.
Aceves has been horrible. Melancon already got sent down. The only bright spot is that Bard has been pretty good in the starting rotation. We really need to look at getting a replacement for Papelbon. And Buccholz/Lester better step it up.
iirc Bailey was intended to be Papelbon's repacement.
What I don't get is why everyone is so surprised with Boston's struggles. A year ago, 14 games in, they were 4-10 just like they are now, and that wasn't with a new manager, general manager, closer, etc. They've let a lot of talent get away the last few years and their success rate with free agents over that same time was horrid (Crawford, Lackey, Cameron, JD Drew, Dice-K, the list goes on). This collapse was several years in the making.
Ugh. It hurt me to read that list DoK. At least Gonzalez has been as good as advertised.
Beckett needs to go. Like, yesterday. He was great for us, but it's time to get what we can for him.
I think this bump is relevant.
Its beyond pitching..
No, it's not. It's ALL about pitching. Starting pitching to be exact. When your two best pitchers over the past 2 months are Buchholz and Cook, you've got problems. The so called "aces" of the staff in Beckett and Lester cant get thru the 1st inning without giving up 3+ runs. They have enough hitting, speed, and defense. It's ALL about pitching....
Its not all about pitching. Sure they suck and are part of the great, historic fail in Boston right now, you cant put full blame on them. It goes all around.
Pitching, management, lack of offense etc.
They have nothing going for them at all.
They cant even use the injury card because they were actually playing much better without key players.
Now they all come back and they still suck even more. Its not coincidence that after Ortiz went in the DL the Red Sox offense died almost completely.
Prior to his injury Ortiz was the only one keeping this team afloat.
Pedro Ciriaco has been a tremendous help carrying them. Without Ortiz and a liitle Ciriaco help this team would not only be dead last but would be at least 10 games under the .500 mark.
With that said, Beckett needs to 100% go.
He just doesn't care if he does good or bad in Boston. You can just see in his expression everytime the camera shows him. There is no care whatsoever.
Boston should trade him before his value drops completely. If they wait until the very last minute like they did with Youkilis they wont get in return.
But since we're talking about the Red Sox FO here, that's unlikely to happen.
Obviously you don't pay much attention because the Sox are either 1 or 2 in runs scored in the AL (maybe all of baseball). So the offense isnt the problem....
LOL those kinds of stats dont mean much in the game of baseball.
Just to point out how worthless that stat is...
Baltimore is second in the AL-EAST standings and they are 19th in runs batted in, Washington is FIRST and 20th in RBI.
Further more, the Oakland As who are currently tied for a wild card spot are almost dead last in that category.
The reason why the Red Sox are near the top in runs score is quite deceiving.
True, but a lot of that is off the bat of Ortiz who's out right now.

Uhm... that would be the Cubs, thanks. When did you start watching baseball? Last year?
Except they won 2 WS in the past decade....
Nah, there's a difference between the Cubs just blowing chunks for most of a century and the Sox's current continuous chokejob that started last September, B....
90s Braves and 2004 Yankees says hi.
At this point, Boston is not choking, they are underachieving.
