The Lakers' offer was way less bad than Brooklyn's. No one in his right mind wants to pay soft ass Brooke Lopez and Kim's longterm deals, and neither was playing along without a four year deal.

That was a offer too, but yeah, better than the one they took. Orlando should have just held his ass until the trade deadline until he agreed to go somewhere that could have provided a decent return. There is absolutely no way Howard was going to turn down a fifth year and the max raises he would get as a Bird FA by not signing an extension anywhere.
