Who was this offseason’s most underrated acquisition?

Jamal Crawford. As soon as the NBA’s free agency period began on midnight of July 1, the Los Angeles Clippers placed a call to Crawford and made plans to fly him out to California for a face-to-face meeting. The Clippers zeroed in on Crawford almost immediately and made it clear that signing the 32-year-old guard was their top priority. At the time, the Clippers were criticized for inking Crawford to a four-year deal since he had struggled during his one-year stint with the Portland Trail Blazers and because L.A. didn’t even consider other available shooting guards such as Ray Allen or Courtney Lee.

Now, Crawford is making the Clippers look very smart. He has outplayed every other offseason acquisition outside of James Harden, averaging 25.6 points off the bench for Los Angeles and shooting a career-high 53.4 percent from the field. He’s currently leading the Clippers in scoring, which is impressive considering he’s playing with two perennial All-Stars in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Through three games, Crawford has the same Player Efficiency Rating (29.8) as LeBron James. Making Crawford’s production even more impressive is the fact that he’s still adjusting to the change of scenery and trying to get acclimated with new teammates, coaches and plays.

While it’s still early, it’s clear that Crawford is a good fit in Los Angeles. He’s at his best when he’s playing on a contender and leading the second unit, which is why he was so effective during his two years with the Atlanta Hawks as well. Crawford was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2010 and it seems the award is his to lose this season.

Hope he keeps this up, tbh...

He's been great, but Jamal has a dark past... we'll see if he learned his lessons... talent being there was never in doubt, but he can easily get full of himself rather quickly

He's a journey player for a reason, his numbers will drop eventually but would obviously take him over Jamison or Meeks, no doubt.

is a damn good player and IIRC he was the only player on NY's squad who was seriously ballin' at a time when they had Marbury & Francis on the backcourt but sucked ape asses.

i recommended him more than just a couple of times when he was still playing with hawks tbh

Crawford is kind of like Westbrook. If he makes a shot or two, he becomes invincible in his own mind, and that's dangerous. From that point forward, anything past half court is a good shot regardless. Jamal Crawford would try to drop kick a 3 pointer in if you let him.

That's why he's a bench player for when we need instant offense and not a starter....

Speaking of Westbrick, at Presti for trading Eric Bledsoe to us.... The BledShow is gonna be better than Westbrick soon, there's already teams lined up begging to trade for him....

Oh you know how it is with Westbrook. We're cursing him one minute and glorifying him the next. He's gonna have to decide to be a re in fewer than 50% of our games though.

Truth bombs, but I bet Presti will be wishing he had that trade back.... prime Bledsoe, Harden, and Durant would have been a sick duo in a couple years....

Back in 07 when he went ham towards the end of the season and put up 50 every other game I thought this dude was going to be a star..then he nigged his way to irrelevancy. He's always had talent, just extreme inconsistent.

If he was consistent he would be a 30ppg player and lead the league in FG% for guards.

The dude can score with the best of them, but like others have said...he's inconsistent as . He's had stretches in the past where he goes off for 30-35+ a night for 2 weeks straight, and then he'll go 4-15 in the next game. He can shoot you into a game and even win you a game, but he can also shoot your ass out of a game REAL quick....

He's JR Smith with a touch more brains. On a good night defenses can't stop him, on a bad night his coaches can't.

I still remember ROFLing at my Rockets fan friends. We were all watching this one at a buddy's house and he did not take it well.
