Residents of Spurs City are getting back into summer routines this week, as the dust settles in the SBC Center and the champion team's managers start getting ready for a new season.
With the big televised excitement over, some skeptics have predicted that "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria, much-remarked romantic interest of Spurs star Tony Parker, may fade away as the spotlight moves on.
Don't count on it, now that Longoria has a home here.
Yup. Earlier this month, right smack in the middle of the thrill of the NBA championships, Longoria took time to purchase a home in San Antonio.
The home, a stately stone abode, sits high in the hills of the furthest, not-yet-jam-packed reaches of Stone Oak. It's not new — Longoria bought it from a San Antonio couple who lived there for several years. But it's still fairly remote, compared to the closer reaches of the sprawling subdivision.
Some say Longoria, whose main address is still in L.A., bought the home for her parents, who live in Corpus Christi.
However, Longoria, the best-known female Hispanic on a blockbuster network prime time series, certainly has been spending time with Parker recently — reportedly staying at the point guard's home during some of her visits here.
And other Parker pals say Tony's mom is very fond of Eva, too — despite the fact that the "Desperate Housewives" star is seven years Parker's senior.
Friends of both Longoria and Parker insist that it's not really serious between the two.
Maybe so — after all, they're both young, and at the top of their respective games.
But whether or not the house buying is purely a parental gift, or Tony Parker-related, it's great for S.A. to have a star of Longoria's stature acquire a permanent presence here.
