its gonna be like James Bond with a laser getting closer to your eye... burning your cheek ever so slowly as it crawls across your face... as it reaches your eye your going to hear this poping/sizzling noise... kinda like bacon in a skillet.... Then there's the smell of the smoke.... Dont blink, just endure the exquisit pain... if you blink you will lose your eyelid forever and your eye will shrivel up because of the dryness.
I'm going to Berkley Eye Center ... It's a pretty penny, but they're nice and such. They're off Weslayan & West Alabama.
Did you have the Intralase or did they use a blade?
mine was about $3,000![]()
I'm about to get braces too so there goes another $3,000![]()

anyway, gosh i don't even remember what I got, what is the difference? I think it was Intralase. all i know is that it took maybe 20 minutes at the most and you feel some pressure on your eyes but it's not really THAT painful. The freakiest part is that they have your eyes held open by a device but at one point during the procedure your vision goes blank. like you see nothing, just blackness, but your eye is open!! so weird but then you start to see the little red flashing light and your vision starts to come back. scary that you are like blinded for a few seconds![]()
Yah, mine is going to be about $4k ... , wish mine was $3k. They didn't tell me anything about going blind for a few seconds, but I knew about the device that holds your eyes open.
Main difference is between normal & intralase - I don't want a $%#@$# blade near my eye![]()
ah ok, i didn't get that then. it was Intralase. they didn't tell me anything about going blind for a few seconds either. it just kind of caught me off guard! did you get a lifetime warranty? I really need to go back and get my eyes checked again, because I feel like my vision has decreased a little. I have a lifetime warranty so they can tweak it for free
No, it's only for 2 years :\
wow you're getting jipped then. that high of a price you should have a lifetime package![]()
You would think, huh? But I dunno - my friend's dad in high school was a laser eye surgeon and rarely ever had to do touch ups ... so who knows.
rarely, but it does happen. also you can start losing the sharpness of your vision when you are older. I like the fact that I have the option to ever go back if i need it. mine was financed in a year with no interest too, it was all a very good deal!
I had it done back in 2002:
20/20 the morning after
20/15 a month after.
Employee discount.![]()
I had it done and am now blind in my left eye.
I hope you're joking - and if you are, Kori should ass rape you with splintering balsa wood and then hit ban.
Hey I got it done like 2 yrs ago and I had the Intralase done. It cost me about 4500 but so worth it. You just feel a little pressure and then you can smell it. Nothing major. But it was cool when I woke up from the sleeping pills they give you and you can see the clock on the other side of the room.
had it done in the winter of 03.
They give ya a sleeping pill, when you lay down you just get really really groggy, and you pretty much are just blah through the whole thing.
The only thing that bothered me was it felt like there was something in my eyes the little bit of time after that.
Remember to get your artificial tears also, they are really important for the healing of the eyes.
I want to get Lasik. Maybe next month I'll schedule an appt. with the same place my sister went to. She loves the results.
Good Luck, enigma!![]()
Ok - well, that does suck ... But I doubt I'll have any problems. *knocks on wood*
It's a joke!![]()
In that case, you're a in and I hope you go blind from staring at your ugly ass face in the mirror for too long.
My friend went to the doctor who does the Spurs and it cost about $4K, took about 30 min, had no pain or complications and is 100% satisfied. I got an evaluation about 5 years ago and he said he couldn't get my vision any better than a pair of hard contacts. But he also said every year you wait will bring newer, better technology. It seems like the time is right. Good luck, I think you will probably LOVE it!
I have some experience here. Here is what they will probably use on you:

I don't know how old you are, but I hope they warned you that you may need reading glasses sooner or even in some cases right away.
I'm 23 ... the chances of me needing reading glasses are pretty small, period. Only people who wear bifocals are my Dad's parents ... and you can't stop the aging of eyes - which is why most people wear reading glasses, it's not the same thing as how your cornea is shaped, which is what causes near & far-sightedness.
