spurs forums consist of 2 things. loving the spurs, and hating the lakers
Yeah Spurs forum, but ain't it fun to watch the Lakers implode? Kobe goes for 40+ and loses again!!!!!!

If the Spurs get the #1 seed, Lakers could be a dangerous #8.
I watched the whole game. I am not writing off the Lakers until they get Nash back. I don't think he will revolutionize things but it is December and they are battling injuries so I am trying not to get too excited. But man watching Varejao really made me want to see him in a Spurs uniform. I have previously stated that he might not be a good fit, but he should some more than decent passing ability and a nice little jumper. This dudes asking price is way too high right now, but if it comes back down to earth and they would go for a package centered around Jax expiring deal, there would be a really tough decision to make.
A 38-year old point guard is gonna turn their season around? Pfft.
I admit I tuned in for the last half of the game and loved Kobe and Co. imploding. Love watching the Lakers lose.
Wow, things have not been looking so good for the Lakers.
Yep - count on Stern making sure the Lakers achieve another Gasol-for-Kwame Bown type of trade to insure that they're "relevant" again.
What is so interesting to me is how the entire universe talks 24/7 about how great K. Bryant is, but he can't win anything unless he's surrounded by at least two Hall of Famers. If this fool is so great, why is his team 9-13 right now? T
ruth is, the guy's a joke of a leader. He's never been anything more than a high-volume shooter on stacked teams. Last I checked, the le teams he's been on had guys named Shaquille, Pau, and Bynum.
An article came up on about how Minnesota is daring Kevin Love to leave Minnesota. My guess is Kevin Love is headed to LA. Man, at this point, I feel like facing LA in the playoffs (if by some miracle they make it that is) will be like a handicap match. 12 against 1
The Spurs have more road wins than the Lakers' have total wins..
they are so freaking lazy/unconvincing and slow on defense. I think people might finally catch onto the fact that kobe isn't first team all-defense. He loses his guy often.
Kobe has actually been shooting really well this year, which is super unlikely to continue. it's amazing to think he's playing at such a high level and they're still this bad. Obviously, they're missing 2 main guys. But their bench is bad. It's not like every team needs to have the spurs' depth, but you need some talent on the bench. Lakers really don't have much there.
they'll get better, i suspect. If Gasol returns to his previous form and nash stays healthy, they'll be dangerous. Hard to see from the team that exists right now them putting it together in time, especially considering kobe will likely regress. he shot like 43% last year, for goodness' sake. He's already on his way back down to his career average (or lower, hopefully)
I truly hate Stern as much as anyone on here, but was the Gasol deal really about Stern or was it more about the Jerry West connection? I'm asking because I don't know, that whole thing still makes no sense to me.
To be honest, Memphis was trying to dump Gasol (though I'm really not sure why). In return they got some prospects (including Marc Gasol (boom) and Javaris Crittenton (now a 1st round bust)), and they got Kwame Brown just to make salaries add up. Kwame was an expiring contract. That deal wasn't really a "Stern" move, though I'm sure Jerry West being in charge of Memphis helped, since he probably tried harder to dump Pau onto the Lakers than any other team. To this day, I have no clue why they were so intent on dumping Pau, but it was known around the league they wanted to trade him. Probably because they got swept the only times they made the postseason.
In addition, its not like the Lakers were some powerhouse before the trade. In 04-05 they didn't make the playoffs, and in 05-06 and 06-07 they were bounced in the first round. Acquiring Pau took them to the top, but at the time it wasn't really a case of the "rich getting richer" or anything like that. Plus they pulled the trade right after Bynum went down.
All that said, LA
Yeap, a 33 years old Gasol with chronic tendinitis at both knees and a gun-less Javaris Critterton (resigned for the occasion) for Kevin Love and 2 first rounders.
Makes perfect sense, Stern-wise.
To be "honest", they could also explore Portland for Aldridge/Batum for Gasol.
Thats just evil ... plain and simple
No. Aldridge is cheaper, younger, healthier, and at this point better than Gasol and has one more year on his contract. There is absolutely zero incentive for the Blazers to go through with that. Batum is also much younger and was just resigned for 11 mil a year. I doubt a team like Portland is going to try to add to its payroll, especially with an injured player past his prime.
Admiralfats nailed it. It's not the offense, it's the defense. The NBA's "all defensive" and "DPOY" have been exposed as a joke. You've got Bryant, Howard, and MWP, all who have received these awards. Yet their defense as a team is ATROCIOUS. Gasol and Nash are actually going to make this worse.
Not gonna happen. Portland laughs them off the phone.
