We sell nationwide and internationally... which is probably good seeing NJ's unemployment keeps on going up...
Our sales have slowed down a bit the last few months, but in general can't really complain (yet), tbh...
I know it's anecdotal but all my industrial customers seem to be kicking ass and I've got about as much work as I can possibly get around to...what are y'all seeing out there? (those that actually have jobs in the private sector)

The bank that hired me did so for their Dallas office because it's the one experiencing growth, so I'd agree with the OP.
I'm with a large engineering firm and we're in a bunch of different industries. Petrochem is booming. Private utility work is strong. Land development is good in Dallas and Houston, but not nearly as good everywhere else in the state. Anything public sector like transportation, public utilities and public works is still kind of sluggish, but that's to be expected since that type of work requires tax dollars and will therefore lag behind what the rest of the economy is doing. Things are definitely better than they were a couple of years ago though.
80,000+ new jobs coming to DC area in next couple deca
Obama turning DC into a Megalopolis. too bad ppl won't be able to get to work due to traffic![]()
2012 was the best year on record for the company I work for. That said, not an insignificant portion of our revene is a result of direct govt transfer. Does that make me a maker or a taker?
I'm currently interviewing clam bakers. Wish I knew of some.....
Texas taking on a lot of blue state refugees.
3 of my neighbors from the People's republic of California.
Public sector still slashing budgets. Sucks.
Notice when the discussion turns to people with real jobs the losers like Blake and Fuzzy are nowhere to be found? And this has to be the first thread in many pages that Boutons hasn't in.
Pretty sure those dudes have day jobs..and as for croutons, the day's young......
Some of us actually work at work. I'm really not in a position to gauge the economy other than to say we are still funded which is good.
Back to your desk, peasant!
I have plenty of work right now and I anticipate getting more work than I know what to do with in the upcoming 2-3 months.
Good times, take advantage while I can!
You can't make me go back, bourgeois oppressor!
The economy in So Cal is not booming…I reminds me of 1982 when businesses were very conservative…Companies carry large staffs of part time workers saving on health care…Film studios produce lots of television and few films…This has a trickledown effect on the local Mom & Pop businesses…Unlike Congress the working class does not spend what it does not have…Consequently doughnut shops, dry cleaners, nail salons, etc are all complaining that they are slow…American car dealers offer discounts & rebates on new cars but not like it was in 2009…
What is booming is the gun industry…California always gets hit the hardest so given the current politics people are buying everything they can get their hands on…Big-5 rarely has more than one person waiting at the gun counter…Last Saturday I went in to buy tennis shoes & the line at the gun counter was 15 deep…The local gun store had a line 20 deep just waiting to get in…There are no AR-15’s or lever action rifles for sale & gun stores cannot order them…There are no clips for sale even in the 5 round capacity…There is more gun hysteria than when Bill Clinton was elected or after the LA riots…Even School districts are quietly buying up AR-15’s for their police staff…

What is booming is the pot industry in Mendocino County… Young folks are making adult salaries trimming buds…

Commercial real estate owners are pretty optimistic about the rents they will be able to charge in certain areas of Austin, for sure.
It's already sky high, we actually had to move to another office downtown because our rent kept going up and up.
Oh ...
Is Texas being Californicated, like they started with Oregon 40 years ago?
Oregon used to be so much less liberal.
Ouch.
You work for an employer who receives funding...
