To clinch the position of Western Conference All Star Head Coach:

The coach of the team with best winning percentage at the close of action on Jan 30th is named the conference HC. Last year's coaches, Brooks and Thibodeau, are not eligible. The Spurs are 35-11 with two game remaining and the Clippers are 32-12 with three games remaining. Pop will go to Houston unless the Spurs lose to both Phoenix and Charlotte at home while the Clippers win all three of their remaining games. So, it's a pretty safe bet that Pop will join Tim and Tony.

This will be Pop's third stint as All Star HC, but the first that would coincide with an appearance by Tony. Pop's previous All Star appearances coincided with Manu's two trips in 2005 and 2011.

One other possible coaching position that Pop may fill is as coach of Team USA. Marc Stein wrote this after restgate:

the sheer giddiness you see from Kobe Bryant and other Western Conference All-Stars when they get the chance to spend a weekend in February playing for Pop suggests that hiring San Antonio's hoops patriarch would hold great appeal to a certain Finals MVP down in Miami who, after three straight Olympics, isn't sure he wants to commit to a fourth.

My su ion is that LeBron James, Kevin Durant and any other Team USA mainstay that Colangelo wants to survey for input would nominate Pop as their top candidate to take over. Such is the reverence around the league for how he has always put his players first, which has never been more evident than it is now through this very public fight with Stern in the name of keeping his stars fresh.

Look for CIA Pop to throw the next two games, tbh.

Maybe he'll still have this "illness" then.

Actually, since I do think Pop wants to be the Olympic coach, this is a good opportunity for him to be around the best players and win some brownie points. Pop would never admit it but going to the All-Star Game this year will help his chances of becoming the next coach at the Olympics ... even if it's a slight help.

    It's set then.

If Leonard can made the rookie-sop re game and Bonner/Neal can made the 3 points challenge and it would be nice.

    Predictions

#LetBonnerShoot gets Coach B into the 3 Point Shootout
KL gets drafted by Team Chuck, leads the entire Rising Stars game in steals
TP repeats as Skills Challenge winner
Pop plays TD and TP 2 minutes each in the ASG

Is it set or is the magic number still 1 (1 Spurs win or 1 Clippers loss)?

    It's 1.

Like Mel_13, I wrongfully thought the coaches were picked on January 30th but the deadline is Feb 3rd:

If only the games until Feb 1 are counted, it should be over.

    Edit:
    Spurs upcoming schedule (36-11)
    Jan. 30 vs Bobcats
Feb. 2 vs Wizards ( This shouldn't if Jan 31 is the deadline)

    Clippers upcoming schedule (32-13)
Jan. 27 vs Blazers (Blazers won 1st game of home vs home)
    Jan. 30 @ Minnesota
    Feb. 1 @ Toronto
    Feb. 3 @ Boston

The LOLcats shouldn't be too hard. The Wizards are playing strong as of late with Wall back in the lineup (they just came off a win against Chicago).

That said the Spurs simply demolish teams at home.

That's what I get for relying on Wikipedia. Fortunately, the results of last night's game have truly brought the number down to one and a victory over Charlotte on Wednesday will get the job done. Hopefully, Pop will be well enough to answer a few questions about how happy he is to be going to Houston.
