Ferry is supposedly looking at Redd first. If that falls through, I'm guessing Allen has to be on the short list. I know that Popovich and Allen are friends, so perhaps he could give Ferry advice on him.
ON PTI they are highly suggesting that the best place for Ray Allen to go to this summer is to the Cavaliers, playing beside LeBron next season.
So lets open this up for Discussion.....
Do you think this is an actual possibilty?
Does this thoguht scare you at all?
How much of Ferry's 28mil will it take to secure him?
If Ferry signs Ray, what other moves do you think he'll make?
Given this and other moves - where do you think Cavs will be next season?
etc etc etc.......

Cavs should go after Redd instead of Allen.
who's the better pure jump shooter, redd or allen
i wouldnt know where to begin. but redd is younger. should go with him.
I'd go with Redd. Younger, less at ude issues surrounding him.
Although it must be an attractive offer for Allen, since he'd only see Bruce Bowen twice a year (even with him the ECF champs is a long shot the first season).
I'd try for Redd first, but be making calls to Allen to feel him out. I wonder though if his ego would be hurt enough to not consider an offer if it came after a public offer to Redd.
Better pure shooter = Redd
Doesn't require a babysitter = Redd
Youngest = Redd
Best suited to play with Bron = Redd
Less selfish = Redd
They could be a serious contender with Redd.
Potential starting lineup
Mcguiness (sp.?)
Bron
Redd
Ilg (they need to resign him)
Gooden
Wow
Better pure shooter = Redd??
Classic Spurfan response: we don't like Ray Allen, therefore he must not be any good.
Redd is a guy who couldn't hit shots until he came to the NBA, and while he has become very good, it's with a stroke that you'd never try to teach to anybody else. He's like the Jeff Bagwell of shooters.
On the other hand, when it comes to classic shooting strokes, Ray Allen may be among the top 10-20 to ever play the game.
If you want to talk at ude and baggage, then you may not want Allen, but in terms of pure basketball ability, it's not even close.
wow noone said ask james then choose what one
Allen's a way better player IMO. Even factoring age into it I'd still go with Ray Allen in a second. To me it's not even close. I'll take a guy who's taken his team to the conference finals and then a team no one expected to be any good to a division le over a guy who puts up numbers on bad teams.
Damn. Allen waiting outside for the rock while King James draws the attention...pretty sweet. Too bad they couldn't keep Boozer. That'd be a nice Big 3.
They would be a strong team with either one. It is scary how similar their numbers are. Almost like they are the same guy. I would check with Redd first for three reasons.
1. Is 4 years younger
2. Is an Ohio native
3. Is a little bigger
I think both would consider resigning with their current team, but both would see major benefits in heading to cleveland. Then if you throw in Hughes, you have three very good guards. I see one of these guys ending up in either Cleveland or Denver and the other two staying put. None are going to Atlanta, Charlotte, Clippers, or New Orleans.
I correct my previous statement. Denver does not have enough cap room. I am a moron, sorry. ESPN sees Allen to LAC as a possibility, I still don't see it.
other people were saying a daniels was going to clevland
cavs have 28 million dude
some of that goes to resigning their Center
That won't even be half of the 28, I could easily see them signing Z, Redd, and Daniels. It will be tight but is possible.
Here's what I think: 28 million cap room...
8 million Michael Redd
10 million Big Z
7 million Bobby Simmons
3 million AD
That team probably wins the East.
Allen next to Lebron would finally get Lebron to the playoffs. However, I doubt they'd be able to go far--especially without a good supporting cast and a solid big man.
....Then again it is the East.
I bet 10,000 vbookie that cavs will not win the east next year
first goal is for the cavs is to have a winning season under james after the allstar break
Redd is the better bet but not close to the player Ray Allen is. I don't see maxing Allen out or giving him a long contract, since he's 30 and you'd be paying him big money on a severe down-slope in his career. That said, I don't know how much Redd would command. It might nearly be the same and he's not worth that much money.
Redd would be an excellent second guy to play off of LeBron. If I'm Ferry I'd go that direction and, inevitably, pay a bit more than he's worth. It's worth it in the end, since you're paying to keep James in Cleveland.
There's a number of old players that used to be good floating around, too, like Stoudamire and Gary Payton and many others. Some of these might be picked up for relatively cheap for a smaller number of years.
I like the Antonio Daniels idea, too. I find myself cheering for Danny Ferry in this situation.
I liek to refer to it as Minor League basketball.....
uhm, I think you'll have ot actually have 10,000 vbookie to make that bet......![]()
Finally?
Hes been in the L for 2 years.![]()
