I heard about the new shooting coach the Spurs hired. His credentials include Steve Kerr, Grant Hill, Corey Magette and others. Can you imagine if this guy helps T Park with his shot. Tony wants to make the All-Star game this year. All he needs is to hit the jumper on a consistent basis. Can you imagine how much improved the Spurs will be if this happens?

This actually worries me, I'm thinking he might become a shoot first point guard, if he gets better with it.....

Knowing Tony has an ego creepin up, this might be bad.

He's already a shoot first pg. He'll just make more of his shots now.

Tony shoots a lot when he doesn't need to, but we wouldn't complain if he were actually making some of those shots. If he improves on this the Spurs will be even more dangerous. He wouldn't have to rely on his quickness so much. It would add so much to his game. I don't buy that crap about his ego getting bigger. I am all for any of the Spurs improving their game. You wouldn't want Tim Duncan improving his free throw shooting because he might actually show some emotion? Of course not. You want Tim to improve his free throw shooting. That reply by Sense was dumb.

If you knew anything about basketball, you'd know the role of the point guard in this offense is to shoot.

As long as the ball goes through Tim Duncan, we need a point who can score. This is a great move.

After the LA playoff fiasco, we herad Tony say he was going to shoot all summer. didn't help, same ty mechanics, worse shooting %ages.

We didn't hear him say anything about him wokring to fix his crappy shooting this summer.

It's great this shooting coach is coming, but I'm not expecting Tony to raise his %age's so quickly. Tony just isn't very co-ordinated.

Tp with a consistent J is an elite PG. But a consistent J isn't something very many of the most talented NBA PG's have.

Not to shoot, but to put points on the board, either by setting up the open man or by taking the ball to the rack or by shooting only in the flow of the offense when he is OPEN.

Spurs aren't like 90+% of the teams in the league. Horry, Duncan, Manu, Barry, are all well above average passers and frequently three even four of them are on the floor together with Parker. This is not a Suns-type team that has one or two good passer sthat are depended on 90% of the time. Parker can afford to be a scorer because that's what's needed most from him. Scoring, some play making, plus he can get the Spurs into their offense quickly. Teams don't even bother trying to full court trap with Parker on the floor.

When Parker is hitting his outside shot the Spurs are essentially unbeatable. If this new "shot doctor" can make Parker a consistent outside shooter and get the Spurs to hit their FTs he should become a hired gun for teams at $10 million a year.

No, it is to shoot. Pop has said many times that TP and the Spurs are at their best when TP is agressive and looking for his shot. So having an improved shooting TP is going to be awesome.

When has Pop pulled TP from the floor? When he goes down the court and jacks up jumpers, that is whem. Pop wants TP to be agressive, that is to penetrate and dish, or penetrate and get fouled or penetrate and score. He wants TP to shoot only if open and if it is in the flow of the offense.
