Tought games seems to have always been where Ginobili find more motivation, will this affect his current slump?

We'd like to think he will but probably not. He might show flashes against LAC or DEN but he'll be stymied when MIA comes to town.

    wake up? he's been up

it's his body that is not responding to let his mind play at ease. miracles don't happen. Pop just has to find whatever is left of Manu and use it productively in the Spurs system.

Manu has gone away from high percentage shots and has opted to go with the path of least resistance which has been a lot of 3 point shots, his percentages are crap and it has to do mentally because shooters just don't forget how to shoot. He hasn't attacked the basket and he hasn't looked to score, the times that he has journeyed into the paint he looks to draw contact but not finish. If he doesn't get his act together then he's more useful cheering from the sideline along with Patty Mills

Next 3 games will tell the story for the Spurs season including playoffs. This will test whether they will fold up under pressure or get nasty.

Prolly won't need him for Denver anymore. When long winning streaks are snapped, teams tend to lose a couple afterwards. Hopefully the Spurs are able to do what New Orleans did tonight so he can chuck away when the game's out of reach.

think of Manu as one of those walkers in the Walking Dead. Pop can still find him useful to carry the team's baggage by cutting off his lower jawbone and arms. But only Pop can do that, Manu cannot possibly do it on his own.

It's reallly out of Manu's hands at this point

He's got to start. The Spurs are running out of time. I think that's the only thing that can wake him up. Let him start and let him get some open looks from the other guys and that will boost his confidence. Pop can then try using DeColo and Green off the bench.

Over the last 20 games, he has 8.8 FGA and 3.3 3PA... that's 37% of his shots have been 3 pointers...

More recently, over the last 10 games, he has 10.4 FGA and 4.2 3PA: 40%

For comparison, last season he took 285 FGA and 126 3PA: 44%

    2010-2011? 1018 FGA and 441 3PA: 43%

FWIW, his 3 point percentage this season so far is actually higher than 2010-2011...

Here's a breakdown of his shooting by distance since the ASG:

    Less than 8ft: FGM: 33 - FGA: 62 - FG%: 53.2%
    8ft-16ft: FGM: 4 - FGA: 19 - FG%: 21.1%
    16ft-24ft: FGM: 6 - FGA: 14 - FG%: 42.9%
    24ft+: FGM: 18 - FGA: 62 - FG%: 29.0%

His 3 point % has taken a dip, but more worrisome is his floater has been very ineffective.

For comparison, over the entire season without the above games, his numbers for those two areas are:
    8ft-16ft: FGM: 12 - FGA: 30 - FG%: 40.0%
    24ft+: FGM: 64 - FGA: 168 - FG%: 38.0%

Problem is Green plays very well with the starters but sucks with the bench unit. It still seems necessary that Manu can increase his production off the bench because Green needs to be a starter to be effective at all.

Its to late in the season to try and start him now.
I would much rather do it now than game 5 of a playoff series.

Manu is at the age when most wing players lose it: shooting touch, agility, quickness, energy. It's just a fact. I hope he can pull out of this slump for one last run, but I don't see much beyond that. And I love Manu.

His short distance game has really been off. As has his decision-making, as has his ball handling. It's not been fun to watch, but hopefully now that Tony is back Manu can work himself into being more efficient in a slightly smaller role. If he gets there, we're in great shape, if he doesn't we're in big trouble. Just gotta wait and see tbh, not much more to say

Has Manu's floater ever been effective? He never really developed that shot. I've seen him attempt it on occasion over the years but the sample size is really small IIRC.

I was all for him to wake up for two games, if those are against LAC and MIA we still have a chance.

And tip his hand that he's going to flat out dominate in the post-season? Not likely. I look for a mixed bag of bungles and brilliance.

At least he hit the clutch three that became the eventual game-winner against the Nuggets.
