Right now the Spurs would really have to fight hard to get the #1 seed. I don't think home court will decide a series between OKC and SA. However, a more difficult road traveled will cause issues. If the Spurs wind up with the #1 seed they are looking at playing the Lakers and Grizzlies/Clippers before OKC. Whereas, they would face an inexperienced playoff team in the Rockets and a depleted Nuggets team or outside shooting Warriors team.
The Lakers are a scary team even though they have been inconsistent. Kobe brings his game to another level during the playoffs and a team like Memphis will grind you down.

You might say Kobe brings his game to 6/24 level once the playoffs start.
No, he doesn't. His TS% suffers a significant drop from regular season to the post-season. He's not a Malone/Garnett level under-achiever but he's never been that impressive of a playoff performer imo.
