Haven't had a Patty or "Backup Pg" thread in awhile, so here's one. Both Neal and Joseph, even though they played well against the Lakers, don't seem suited to play against the Warriors' guards. Should Pop give a few minutes to Patty just to see how he does against Jarrett Jack? Mills seems to play extremely well in Oracle Arena. If not Patty, then should Nando be given a chance, or do we continue to stick with Neal?

Patty Mills Highlights vs Golden State Warriors (Career high 34 pts & 12 assists)

Absolutely. Also, Neal isn't underperforming, he's just not very good. Need Parker to lead a 4 quarters effort tonight and use full rotation to be able to stay fresh and keep up the effort. I want to see lots of sharp passing. Spurs suck off the dribble, need to swing the ball.

I'd definitely try Mills over CoJo at this point.

We need to have fresh bodies to throw at them. Have mills come off the bench with Manu. Maybe even T-mac and Baynes the start of the 2nd quarter.

Yes. At least 8-10 minutes. He's hit or miss on defense, but when he's hit he's a hound.

His offense speaks for itself. He's got balls and this team is showing none.

This would be a desperate move since Mills can be a liability on defense, but the warriors are hitting shots even if defended well. So a spark on offense would not be a bad idea, hopefully mills can make his shots, specially the ones Neal has not made consistently.

Sure. Cojo looked good against the Lakers' scrub guards, but he's been useless so far in this series.

Patty might get hot and score a bunch of points and take the focus off of Tony and allow him some rest on the bench. It just wouldn't be prudent of me to try something so logical. It's not how I roll.

And gosh darnit it just wouldn't be fair to Cory and Gary.

Considering how bad Neal has been I think Mills should be given a chance. We know Mills can score and if he has a good night he might be able to help when our offence is underperforming.

What exactly do you think Neal is on defense?

Have you ever heard the saying "Fight Fire With Fire"? GS is not a classic NBA team but, win because of one SCORER!!!! Spurs have one and I bet Mills can two/three for two/three with Curry. Defense... I can't see either Curry or Mills making any difference. Need proof? ... Look at the last two Olympics!!!

Why not? It's not like Neal's a good option to defend Thompson, and Mills may be better on Jack and Curry. His energy may help him stay with Curry, and if Curry makes shots over him, well then the Spurs are right where they'd be anyway.

Mills might get Joseph's minutes, though. If Cory can't defend Curry, then he loses most of his value. Neal can still shoot.

I'd play T-Mac for at least 6 or 7 minutes, he looks lazy but that's just his game. Quick hands on the way up and length could help defend plus he can post up at the PG position because of his size and help swing the ball to an open defender if they double down.

De Colo would be my choice. We are seeing significant defensive problems when we shift a larger player (Green/Kawhi) onto Curry due to the corresponding mismatch between their SG/SF and Parker/Joseph. Parker/Joseph are being overpowered and shot over, but De Colo is significantly bigger than either of them, and would be more effectively able to defend the SG/SF mismatch. Furthermore, De Colo's quite effective creating offensively when he goes for it...
