Orgasm Day Observed In Rural Brazilian Town

Espertantina, Brazil (AHN) – In a country known for its freedom of sexual expression, it might seem a little surprising for the topic to actually make the news.
The Mayor of Espertantina is declaring May 9th “Orgasm Day”, in an effort to enhance the relationships of married couples.
Mayor Felipe Santolia says, "We're celebrating orgasm in all its senses. There's even a panel discussion on premature ejaculation. But from what I've seen, women have more trouble achieving orgasm than men, especially in marriage."
Santolia says the previous mayor rejected the idea of making it an official city holiday even though the remote town of 38,000 had been observing it unofficially for years.
Santolia, who took office earlier this year, signs the bill after the city council passed the law over the weekend.
Events of Orgasm Day will include a presentation of Eve Ensler's play "The Vagina Monologues" and a series of iscussions by a panel of nationally-known sexologists.
He says "I've seen scientific studies that show when a woman is unloved, when her husband can bring her to orgasm, it affects all aspects of her life, her relationships with her children, at home, with the city and at work."
The 32-year old single politician says the notion of Orgasm Day initially created controversy in this poor, religiously conservative area of the country until residents eventually came around.
