How about a hand for your local law enforcement and fire/ems personnel. I was eating sushi at sushi maki in brickell today when a panhandler came by and begged for money__in the middle of my meal. The staff called the police and he was picked up in 3 minutes. Pinecrest and Coral Gables PD do this often too. When i worked fire in the DC area we would pick up drunks and drop them off in tbe part of town too. Do your local cops do this in your affluent neighborhoods?
just so you know...I would go HAM on it if given the chance - ;-)
You won't be, so the rest is just irrelevant and pestering.
The bums who hang out in the nice areas of Phoenix are pretty resourceful. There was one bum who hung out behind the Ritz-Carlton that most visiting NBA teams stay at in the nicest area of Phoenix who managed to hang around. Rather than pan handle rich people who'd get scared and call the police, he made his money buying alcohol for people in 8th grade/early in high school who were going to the AMC movie theatre right by the Ritz-Carlton. Pretty resourceful for a homeless guy the way so many people knew he was a reliable alcohol source. Otherwise bum management is pretty good in Phoenix.
Tucson however is a different story. The bums are everyone and local law enforcement does nothing. The UofA library is littered with bums who watch porn on the computers/, stare at co-eds walking by, and stand right by the trash cans so they could rummage every time a student threw something away. The only time bums have ever been removed from the library was when the cops would get called for public masturbation after a bum watching porn would openly (sometimes loudly) jack off. The tolerance for bums in that city is way too high as there were a few bums around campus people are able to identify since they've been there for years. Good law enforcement prevents bums from ever settling in one spot too long.
When I lived in Bum Nowhere, Idaho, people would freak out if they saw a bum or homeless dude. the cops would be called so he'd get sent up to Boise or some while everyone talked about it for a week straight.
As far as in SA, I do know people are tired of the bums crossing I-10 to the good side of town.![]()
I can definitely attest to the bum management in parts of Phoenix. Tempe was pretty good at it, and Scottsdale downright had a bum gestapo. Surprised to hear that about Tuscon though. Sucks.
LOL, that park they show in Santa Monica is just ing littered with homeless.
Sucks cause it has really nice views and would be an awesome place otherwise.
Wow, I don't think your typical Texas highschool graduate would have come up with that idea. Dude sounds like the Hawking of the homeless.
A lot of panhandlers in nice neighborhoods aren't homeless though. My friend who worked valet parking in Beverley Hills when he was in school said there was this one panhandler who would come park his Mercedes in the same lot he used, and then go out all ed up looking, beg for change, and do pretty well. I think his secret was that when people gave him money they didn't see him with a bottle of MD 20/20 5 minutes later. When you give a homeless money and he doesn't have liquor within 5 minutes, then he's not a real homeless.
well...at least I can dream about it what it taste like...not in general but you specifically...you can't take that away![]()
Tucson being the liberal an hesis to Phoenix is good in a lot of ways, namely the fact that there are regulations preventing Tucson from being the concrete jungle that enhances the already hot climate Southern AZ has, but the idealism has gone way too far. The tolerance for bums, Mexicans and transgender freak shows is out of control. The city has basically given up on trying to stop car break ins. They don't even dispatch officers to car break ins anymore because they happen so often and trying to find the Mexican who did it is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Don't you just look for the Mexican in the nice car? Doesn't seem too difficult tbh.
Meant to say car break ins tbh, can't speak for what happens with car jackings, except for "look for the Mexican in the nice car" wouldn't work. By the time you've realized your car got stolen its already getting chopped.
