DeMarcus Cousins. His teammates love him.
Kobe hasn't won anything this year, he would be a perfect candidate imho, tbh, fwiw, etc etc...Since reports began circulating on Friday that the NBA would be unveiling a new annual award before Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, fans and reporters have wondered which new honor the league had chosen to add its suite of year-end accolades. Guesses ranged from the plausible (Offensive Player of the Year?) to the preposterous (check the #NewNBAAward joke hashtag).
The speculation ended at noon on the East Coast on Sunday, though, when NBA.com's Steve Aschburner reported that NBA Commissioner David Stern will present the inaugural Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award in a pregame ceremony at AmericanAirlines Arena on Sunday. The nominees for the new award, which recognizes the league's "ideal teammate," were "selected by a panel of NBA Legends according to selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players and his commitment and dedication to his team," according to Aschburner.

sportsmanship award 2.0
or Jason Collins, he loves his teammates
lol :luke walton:
The finalists for the first Twyman-Stokes trophy are:
• Jerry Stackhouse of the Brooklyn Nets
• Luke Walton of the Cleveland Cavaliers
• Andre Iguodala of the Denver Nuggets
• Jarrett Jack of the Golden State Warriors
• Roy Hibbert of the Indiana Pacers
• Chauncey Billups of the Los Angeles Clippers
• Shane Battier of the Miami Heat
• Roger Mason Jr. of the New Orleans Hornets
• Jason Kidd of the New York Knicks
• Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder
• Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs
• Emeka Okafor of the Washington Wizards
at Chauncey Billups being nominated for this award this year, dude wouldn't even come off the bench for more productive players, and demanded to start, play big minutes, and chuck up bricks on the rare occasion he wasn't out injured.... some teammate
![]()
ya, Billups shouldn't be in the same stratosphere as this award, tbh..
Doesn't quite meet the mentor and leadership criteria, but in terms of the ideal teammate, there's no one better than Patty Mills. Never complains about his role with the team, is the first to help players up, cheers them on when he's not on the court, and plays with tremendous heart when he is on the court.
lol Chauncey Billups
of course that gimp guzzler would win
More than one SA player should be on this list.
In fact, SA probably will make a mockery of this "award" tbh..
They actually GAVE Chauncey the award, holy![]()

I liked Chauncey in his prime and all, but the guy helped ruin our season with his selfishness and screwed over Willie Green..... if anyone on the Clippers deserves this award, it's Green, for accepting being permabenched every time Chauncey felt like playing without a single complaint all year, tbh....
Way to completely devalue this pointless award immediately, Stern![]()
ST is money, laughing at Billups out of 20 nominations before the award is announced, and the winner is..... Chauncey!!!!
God damn the NBA voting panels are out of touch with reality. Between this, the DMVP, and the questionable MVP voting, it's just shoddy to the point of irrelevance.
These are consolation prizes for being on in the 1st round when you had huge expectations. It keeps their names in the media, kind of like Kobe giving ty interviews about his future. NBA has invested a ton in these guys, and they don't deliver. Common for that type imo.
I'm surprised they didn't come up with the Worst Teammate Award instead, so Kirby could win something this year....
MVP candidate CPFlop
All Star Game MVP being the best he will ever get![]()
