Thanks for sharing. I don't like Gomez as a writer personally. He's always negative and gloomy and will throw some foundation for his opinions, but they are undoubtedly colored by his negative point of view. He gives a cookie-cutter view of the vets ignoring LMA struggle in the first game, downplaying David West poor shooting so far and missing some defensive rotations and minimizing Tony' s poor shooting. All these guys are vets so it's not a tragedy and I don't think it's a reason to panic either, so yea give them a pass. But then he is all gloom about guys like Anderson and Mccallum who have been pushed out of their comfort zones and put in positions where they are at times the best player with a lot of non NBA level players and asked to create for themselves and others, roles they won't play in the regular season, just bc Pop wants to get them experience and more ready if their numbers need to be called in a game. Yea they were not good in those cir stances, but they played well or really well when next to a decent lineup. They too will be fine in the regular season.
Just seems like Gomez is really shallow. He thinks Anderson got the backup wing spot by default and not that he earned fair and square. I kind of detect he was a Simmons supporter who is more than anything just dissappointed that his guy wasn't very good, he just won't come out and say it that way. It's no secret that after SL these PtR guys were all over Simmons, proclaiming him as the better prospect of the two, and even as the more NBA level ready player of the two. I have nothing against Simms, but it just peeved me that even when the Anderson outplayed everyone else competing for that spot he gets no respect.
