no, two seperate buildings.
Hi I am new to the board. I live in the Dallas area, but my wife has family in SA, so I go often. (I miss Garcia's on Fdrksburg!) I have been reading since before the playoffs, but made the account tonight. I know it says my favourite team is the Mavs, but I love the Spurs equally and was VERY happy to see them win. I cannot wait to see a Spurs-Mavs game in next season and I plan to wear Spurs stuff to the game.
My dumb question: is the Alamo Dome the same thing as the SBC Centre? I have only driven by it and around it (and gotten lost in a little barrio nearby it, that was fun, not!)so I am not too certain.
Anyways thanks for reading and hopefully I can contribute something to this board.
no, two seperate buildings.
The Alamodome, the large structure near downtown with the yellow puppet strings, seats about ~65,000 and today is primarily used for Football, conventions, and monster truck rallies. The Spurs played several seasons in a half-configuration setting in the dome before voters approved the SBC Center after the Spurs first Championship.
The SBC Center seats about ~18.000 and is located next to the Joe and Harry Freeman Colliseum on the County fair grounds. To get there without getting easily lost, go East on Houston downtown to SBC Center drive and look for the big building that looks like a barn. It's hard to miss.
