During the late 80's the Pistons used the Jordan rules a defensive tactic to stop Jordan. The Spurs, Celtics, Pistons of the '00s had what I called the Kobe rules in which they played aggressive Zone defensive schemes against Kobe that were much more difficult to overcome then what Jordan endured against the Pistons of his era. This in itself is one of the reasons why Kobe is better then MJ because MJ never had to face the type of advanced defenses that Kobe had to deal with. If MJ faced the zone defense Kobe faced he would been taken out of his element and had lower shooting percentages.
