The American actress plays sassyNew Jersey-born Barbara alongsideJoseph Gordon-Levitt's ular character in her latest film Don JonIn the movie Scarlett's character discovers her boyfriend is addicted to explicit videos, which prompts her to walk out in disgust.
The 28-year-old star, who recently got engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac, would also be left struggling for words if she were to discover her partner had a similar habit.
"If I found out that my boyfriend was watching that much porn I would be totally flabbergastered, for sure. It would be very confusing," she told the December issue of British magazine Marie Claire. "I'm sure I should have some well-developed view on its effect on society, the ethics behind it and how it affects the kind of relationships between men and women and how it objectifies women. But I don't really think about it."
Although her job sees her tackling deep, topical issues Scarlett remains upbeat in her everyday life. She feels privileged to have such a successful career and makes sure not to take it for granted by demanding more.
"I think I've always been by nature a happy person. You know, everybody has their moments, but I do what I love and my job is very satisfying and I get paid to do it," she laughed. "I live in New York, I live in Paris, I get to travel a lot. I work with people I admire. How can I complain?"
Having broken into the movie industry aged just nine Scarlett feels she is more knowledgeable than other actresses her age. Her first adult role in Lost in Translation earned her a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
"I have a kind of deeper understanding of the complexity of it all. I think I'm more dedicated to it," she added.
