Until this season Parker has always brought the ball up the floor. Always. Very few players were allowed to do so when Parker was on the court. Actually Manu, and occasionally Kawhi, are the only one I can think of who could do it without Pop yelling at them. The ball was always inbounded to Tony if the opponent had scored, or the rebounder would take a few seconds to find Tony. Nobody else was allowed near the ball.

Right now, and probably for the sake of playing at a faster pace, Tony sprints to the other end of the court as soon as a basket is scored or the Spurs get a defensive rebound, which leaves some player with concrete feet and ski gloves handling the ball. Leading to, guess what, a turnover.

Last night against the Timberwolves Ayres brought the ball up the court TWICE. Ayres. A 5-year old dribbles better than this guy.

Players like Ayres, Green or even Duncan should never, ever have to dribble on our half of the court. Stay put and pass the ball to somebody who can handle it and protect it.

I don't mind having Manu do it, or somebody with decent handles like Beli, Diaw or even Kawhi (and even then that's pushing it). But why not simply hand over the ball to Tony like the Spurs used to?

Well, Pop is taking it from FNT where Parker rarely brought the ball up with Diot or De Colo doing it.The primary reason why they did it this summer was to save his energy and it worked very well. Even if Parker wasn't in a great shape at the Eurobasket, he had enough energy at the end of games to be clutch.

Now, it's sure that it isn't a good idea to have some players like Ayres bringing the ball up...
