Yeah Pau is a way better player overall. Is that trade even possible though?
I'm not saying I would, I would lean towards not tbh. But there is a chance that the Lakers are going to try and move Pau. Do the Spurs have a better chance at a ring with Splitter or Pau in your opinion? Obviously Pau is 33, Splitter 28. This would signal a win now mentality for San Antonio. What's your take?

Not straight up Pau's contract is like 8 million more than Splitters.
I think Gasol's salary is a few million more, so we would probably have to throw someone in. This is hypothetical tbh. Offensively Pau is much much better in the post. Defensively I think Splitter would have the edge. But tbh I think Pau gets a bad rap on D and I think if asked to play more D he would. IMO he has always had a high basketball IQ.
Yes...but because of the salary you'd have to include probably Bonner and Green. Even if the Lakers throw in one or two of their min players (Kelly, Johnson), that's still a lot of value and corporate knowledge to lose for a Gasol rental. I'd still lean toward yes, but it's not very likely to happen.

If Gasol could still play at his 2009-10 level, this would be an absolute no-brainer. Of course, if he could do that this hypothetical would be absurd. It's hard to know how much of his decline is physical and how much can be attributed to his current situation. Still, if I was the GM and Gasol was available for Splitter plus filler, I'd make the trade in a heartbeat.
Would be trading splitter for a 1 year rental of Gasol. I don't know on this one.
LOL...of course not, this is even a serious question?
Some people here think Splitter is the best center in the nba...
That said Pau seems to be falling off hard and pairing Duncan with another old guy doesn't seem like the best idea.
But there's something to be said about post game becoming "outdated" for the "modern" nba. It's completely wrong, post game is one of the most powerful weapon in the POs, Lebron won two rings when he started focusing on his post game, Hibbert is not even that skilled in the post but he's still such a problem in the POs when real bball in being played... Lack of dominant post player lately =/= death of the post game...
The Spurs would then have 2 starting bigs who can't defend the pick-and-roll, so no.
Yes, at least Gasol can post up Mike Miller in the playoffs.
Have you seen our defensive numbers without Splitter?
I have seen him only start one PO series in 3 years and we went to the WCF and were 1FT away from a championship...
He started 15 of the 21 playoff games in 2013...
No way. First off, Gasol makes 20 million. Splitter makes 10 million. So we couldn't trade him straight up. We'd have to trade another important player, like say, Danny Green to make it happen.
And second, Pau just isn't the same player. He's always taking these jump shots nowadays. The worst thing for a big man is to fall in love with the jumper. And Pau has. He used to be a beast around the rim and on the boards. Now he's just a finness 7 foot jump shooter. At least Splitter doesn't shoot jumpers...
Well I meant he only started a complete series.
And if anything he was the most responsible for losing in the Finals where he was a clear negative...
Yet you said one series. Agenda?
pau would have been an even worse matchup than splitter. much less mobile defensively
I'm not impressed with Splitter's advanced stats... In the PO he has not shown he was important, Baynes did better than him on Howard. Then against Miami he stunk so bad it was sad...
The year before that he was once again a/the weak link being hacked successfully.
People can fap on his regular season numbers playing between Duncan and Kawhi all they want, I don't see an intrumental piece to the Spurs winning a ring.
Someone's getting emotional about their agenda.
Not at all I'm rooting for him to do better but he has been ting his pants in the POs in a way that reminds of Bonner so far, I'm concerned is all.
