*** The band had little money and had spent what they had to rent a recording studio, well the night they were to record Rosie had a bad cold, but this was a deal where.....no money back. So they had to go on with it, well they nailed it but after her recovery Rosie could never duplicate this sound again. A true classic!

Most of that people don't even listen to. Unless you're an inmate's dedicating that to Little Joker... or Little Casper on the Art Laboe Show.
Well we could go back to Memphis around 1926-1939 and...
Jim Jackson
Frank Stokes
Cannon Jug Stompers
Pearl son
Mooch Richardson
Will Batts
Jack Kelly's South Memphis Jug Band
Sleepy John Estes
Kansas Joe McCoy+++
Memphis Minnie+++
Tom son
Robert Wilkins

It's all about influenses. Everything we hear today came from what came before, all of it.

And thank god for those who were influenced that had talent.
Sleep on this on, lil homie.
David Ruffin, yes!
Here ya go....
Getting back to the oldies.
Talent Scout Johnny Oatis who played a major role in early R&B/soul/rock, stopped in a late night diner to grab a bite to eat, as he walked from his car to the diner he heard some cats singing out in the parking lot, he was impressed. So he left his card and............
The unique Jackie Shane doing a great Rufus Thomas cover
The original Louie Louie
Best tune there is if ya wanna do ....The Stroll

Cool, but if you're going to bring Etta James into this then it's gotta be.....
That's nice.
Charles Bradley, bruh.
I'm closing with this one. Until next time.
BRAVO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cat simply has...."it"
Big Mama (Elvis covered Big Mama's "Hot Dog" )
Little Willie John...won a talent contest which got him a recording contract, would die in prison, stabbed a guy.
Brenda Lee had two giant hits this one and....I'm Sorry.
Eddie Holman
Gotta get back in the alley, way down in the grease stains.
About as good as it gets.
I realize this is considered "country" but it's a must listen.

Tommy Tucker
Andre Williams (love it!)
Buddy Holly, in my opinion his best, The Stones covered it.
Billy Stewart
Roots of Rockabilly, the Great Johnny Burnette
Billy "The Kid" Emerson
Billy Ward and the Dominos with the great Jackie Wilson
Elvis really started something, white cats with gee-tars came out in abundance looking to be the next big thing. While obscure to Joe Public, this guy was one of the better....wannabes. Tracy Pendarvis.
Before Elvis there were The Crows, they are one of the very first and most important of all the early vocal groups. This being their signature tune.
Now if ya take that list I gave you and the videos, you should be pretty well covered. If not we'll just keep adding them until you are
So I buy this compilation CD, it was those famous field recording done by the Lomax;s back in the 30;s and 40's. While all of it was good this one (which I knew nothing about) simply stunned me. It was recorded right there in some church in Clarksdale Miss in 1942. In a word......amazing!
Ok last but far from least those baby blues king of soul the one and only Wayne Cochran, if not for James Brown....the hardest working man in show biz.
