BALTIMORE (AP) -- Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs apologized Saturday for calling Dallas Cowboys fans ``the ugliest people in the world.''
While answering questions from the crowd at the team's Fan Appreciation Day at training camp on Friday, Gibbs said: ``I know we don't have any Dallas people here -- they are the ugliest people in the world.''
Gibbs later stressed that he was joking, but he felt the need to address the matter again after Saturday's scrimmage against the Baltimore Ravens.
``I tried to make a joke,'' Gibbs said. ``I was joking. It didn't come out probably like a joke or like it should've. I hope all my buddies in Dallas -- because I've got a lot of buddies down there -- took it the right way. I hope they thought it was a joke.
``But if they didn't think it was a joke, or if anybody took it the wrong way other than a joke, when you make a mistake like that, you've got to apologize. So I apologize to anybody that might have taken it the other way.''

As a Cowboys fan....to me personally its not a big deal. Even though he coaches the Redskins, I have always had respect for Joe Gibbs so I give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Now if it was Dan Snyder......

Joe must be getting soft in his older years.
I don't see Parcells apologizing for any of the crap that spews from his pie hole.
Gibbs has a lot more to worry about than how 'ugly' Cowboys fans are. Personally, I never really viewed Cowboys fans that attend the games that ugly or out of control. They mostly sit on their hands unless it's a big game or the team is doing really well, tendency to be fair weather type fans.
Gibbs needs to be thinking about how to turn that franchise around, with a dumbass owner like Snyder, it ain't going to be easy. I personally don't see Gibbs succeeding in this rescue attempt with Washington. He'll lose this upcoming season, Snyder will ship out more young talent for over-priced free agents and Gibbs will finally get fed up with his midget owner. I'll be surprised if Gibbs lasts more than two more seasons.

Parcells did apologize for that dumbass "Jap" remark he made last year. Sadly Ballcox is right.....There are those of us who have been Cowboys fans since birth but there are a LOT of bandwagoners and as one who is not, it pissed me off. Also as one who has been to a game....you do have a lot of people who cheer but don't get into it as much as they do in other stadiums. Joe Gibbs proved again the class act he is and what the Redskin organization was like prior to Snyder's arrival.

screw you. Twice in this thread I have propped Joe Gibbs and no Cowboy fan in this thread was whining. The only thing that is "whiny" is you lumping ALL Cowboy fans into one group with an ignorant blanket statement.
