Then I buy this Lead Belly CD (he died in 1949) and while listening to it....there is a house in New Orleans......huh? It appears hillbillie Clarence Ashley first recorded the song in 1933. Bluesman Texas Alexander recorded a song with that le in 1928 but it's a totally different song.

True enough, two completely different genres with surprising similarities and connections. Reading about the history of all these bands will really make you see how valuable these old blues and 40s rockers were

Reading about the rockers is what got me into them old primitive blues. Just who was Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, PINK Anderson, FLOYD Council, Tommy Johnson etc. That was 12 books and over a thousand blues CD's ago.

All those years nobody cared about that old "jiggabo" music. Then here comes the Brits all up into that stuff bringing it back to us. I think it's funny how here it was all along and most didn't even know it.
