Yeah, I think their days as a serious contender for the time being are done, unless they can pull off some amazing trade. They will still be tough and in the playoffs, but can't see them getting past Dallas, OKC, or LA right now.
Serious question. The following WC teams are all better than the Spurs are right now:
Lakers
OKC
Dallas Champions
Memphis!
Portland
The Spurs just traded an important experienced role player for an unproven rookie and their franchise player produces 13/8 and makes $21M. Their big man rotation consists of $21M role player, 55 year old Dice, 6'5" fat center Blair, and my favorite: Bonner!
In their division they have the likes of up and coming Memphis, OKC, and last but not least: the champs.
Will the Spurs ever ring again? Doubtful.![]()

Crofl okc in da southwest division. Cool story Brah
lakers aren't actually better than SA
"rayjay" with the "dumbs" ...just teasing
at least you have a NBA championship DVD to pass the time during the lockout ...oh wait, no you do not ...![]()
6-24as many second round wins as the spursetc.kobe's increasingly massive contract, lasting years longer than duncans
etc.
There, I just summarized where this thread is going.
Donīt forget the 2 seed, Rockets better too...
Only time will tell....
*gongggggg*
too obvious of a troll attempt
I don't troll. I ask honest questions. Give facts. Then I need honest answers.![]()
Kind of how you guys slept on that 8th seed huh?![]()
Lakers - no problema
OKC - no problema
Dallas - difficult, not impossible. Too bad Hill is gone.
Memphis with Gay - difficult too, but perhaps the rookies bring something good, Splitter, and FA signings
Portland - no problema
At least Duncan won a playoff game against Dirk![]()
Nicejob. Props.

Very unlikely with this core. A lot of things would need to happen to a bunch of other teams for them to have a realistic shot... (ie: Dirk being injured, Pau having a broken heart, ZBo reverting to a lazy dope, Durant having a back injury from the backpack, Lamarcus Aldrige following Oden and Roy footsteps, etc).
Just an honest assessment.
Down the road, it probably will have to come from another lucky night at the lottery.
They have a good organization so once the core is done and they rebuild, hopefully the Spurs can land a lottery pick and draft a special talent once again
they were the #1 seed this past season and they just lost the 1st round to dem grizz s which was a fluke. if they could add a quality big this summer they'd be still contending for da championship next season imho.
Not in the next decade, probably the next two decades. I would think differently if they had shipped Parker, Ginobli and Duncan out in exchange for draft picks but they appear to be solidly on the "The captain goes down with the ship" train of thought. It's a shame, I think it is sad that misguided loyalty is going to hurt both the franchise and the players
