Never heard a former owner deny the saying that the best two days are the day you buy the boat and the day you sell it.
I'm glad I have friends and family with them. Lot of work.
So is it worth it? im reaally considering buying one. Not a fancy one since i live in SA and can only go fishing 6-8 times a summer, but looking for a 1500-2000 craigslist bargain. just wondering how much maintenance goes into having a boat.

If fishing is what you want it for then just get a Hobie Pro Angler. I've been looking at them, probably get one in the fall. Little pricey at $2800 but no maintenance/fuel costs. And you can take them just about anywhere...even offshore on a nice day...
It can be. If you find yourself just parking it you'll have to spend money on it every time you use it because something won't work. BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand. Use it often and it will be fine. You won't regret getting one unless you don't use it.
I doubt you're going 300 miles out from a Hobie. You might drop one over the side of a sportfisher, but you won't paddle that far. In fact, I cannot think of any spot along the Texas coast where you can get "offshore" on a Hobie in less than about 8 hours. Even the 10 mile rigs aren't really offshore.
not unless you plan to live on it to avoid taxes tbh. that's what i'll do some day.
Not in Texas. Registration fees and lake marina fees will make you change your mind.
