I have a string trimmer and chainsaw that need work. Can anybody recommend a place that does good work?

Lots of luck finding one that does decent work and doesn't charge the price of a new one.
Some of these newer engines aren't worth fixing. Between government regulation on gasoline and the engines themselves I haven't found one that last very long. The guy who worked on my lawn mower, in Leon Valley, went out of business and he was expensive.

John Sorolla on Cypress across from the Cove does good work. It's a legitimate business though, so not Spurstalk cheap.

    Spurtalk cheap.

    LOL...

What are the chances the repair costs would be less than a new one?

Unless they are pro quality Stihl, Husq, etc. you'll probably be better off tossing them and just buying new ones.

And always use that additive to remove the ethanol from the gas. Ethanol is the number factor in ruining 2 cycle engines as well as the newer 4 cycle engines.
