In every made for TV movie everyone from Texas has a thick southern accent.
We're all small town rednecks. This coming from someone in Rome, New York, or Dover.
Also, while it's not technically a stereotype, I can't help but chuckle when people ask about the basement in teh Alamo.
In every made for TV movie everyone from Texas has a thick southern accent.
I ride a horse to work, don't you?
That one always makes me laugh...considering there are 3 or 4 completely different accents widely heard in Texas, depending on where you are...
I pictured everyone in Texas always walking around in little Cowboy boots![]()
Yeah everyone outside of Texas for some reason expects us all in cowboy hats, riding horses, and screwing our sisters???
ummmmm...don't you think that's a little TMI, SW? I mean, User probably appreciates the compliment, but do we need to hear it?
Well that and eating Barbequed food every single day.

I for one resemble all of those remarks somewhat with the exception of the sister comment.
Some of us walk around in large cowboy boots, little lady.I pictured everyone in Texas always walking around in little Cowboy boots![]()
Nothing wrong with eating bbq everyday..
I absolutely HATE the cowboy/redneck stereotype. No I don't live on a ranch with cows and chickens everywhere, and no I don't have tumbleweeds blowin threw my front yard. And NO I don't ride a horse everywhere!
Hey, I never thought you guys did any of that........just the cowboy boots and BBQ thing...![]()
which leads me to the other sterotype I've heard about Texans....that the majority are overweight...which I never understood because 70% of America is probably overweight.
cowboy boots???? BBQ alright i can understand that, who couldnt Rudys is the best damn BBQ place in town and its oh so delicious
The same could be said for Philadelphia.
Everything in Texas is bigger ya know......EVERYTHING
Oh and another one. Texans say "Ya'll" a lot?
Yes on that.
Well damn, why are you getting all huffy? I'm just saying sterotypes I've heard. Which is why I said I never got that one. Because I'm sure more than half of America is overweight.
....And ur right, we do have a lot of overweight people around here (probably all them cheesesteaks and pretzels).
And so what people from New Jersey say "yous guys" a lot??? which sounds better?
that stereotype helped me hook up many, many times while i was in europe! hahaha.. european dudes are very effiminate. the women loved the manly texas men!
Hey Philly says, "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dAWG". I never said anything was wrong with saying Ya'll.
The fact is that a majority of people in Texas lived in small towns prior to WWII. People have been moving into cities in the last half of a century or so to get them to current levels. , 1/7th of the entire population of the state used to live in West Texas. Now it's like 1/30th, and West Texas is desolate.
Thats not just a Philly thing though i say that all the time, that and "Whats really good son"....
