Still nothing to revert a bad call while checking replay or fix a non called clear goaltending...![]()
The NBA announced today that its Board of Governors has approved an additional "trigger" for instant replay review as well as five modifications to the existing replay rules. In addition, the Board approved three other playing rule changes. These rules will go into effect commencing with preseason games on Friday, October 17.

Not much there with the exception of getting rid of the 5-second rule for jump balls. Su iously absent from the instant replay addition, no changes have been made allowing for the review of goaltending calls. *cough* Ibaka *cough*.
These two are![]()
• Teams may freely subs ute players whenever any timeout is called. Prior to this change, there were limited cir stances in which a team couldn't subs ute for certain players at timeouts.
• The shot clock will no longer be reset to five seconds when a held ball is caused by the defense with fewer than five seconds remaining on the clock.
Yeah, goaltending is a ing easy as call to make via replay. . .there's no reason to not have it included when it's one of the easiest calls to make.
They don't even have to do it mid-game either. Just check during commercial then add the points if it was a goaltend.
Reversing bad calls (phantom fouls and flops on brush contact) would be great, but that's never gonna happen.
That one goal tend call could have kept them from going into overtime in that series. Still won but who knows what could have happened in overtime. The goal tend review needs to be accepted.
This right here.
They already can retroactively adjust 2/3 point shots upon subsequent review. Do the same for goal-tends.
They kind of played it safe with the rule changes. Not being able to change retroactively call fouls after viewing a replay is the obvious one.
