If we look at what we see in the NCAA, we could have a final 4 with nothing but black QB's.

    MSU
    Auburn
    ND
    FSU

    Now add...

    UCLA
    Ohio State
    Alabama
    TCU

All having black QB's. And there are tons more of them out there. Obviously the NCAA the farm system for the NFL.

The mobile QB is where football is heading as is the smaller quicker d linemen.

My experience with watching black QB's since the days of Marlon "The Magician" Briscoe is that they know they don't have to stand there and take it. Peyton/Brady know they ...must...throw the ball, they can't run (rare). While RW/Kaerpernick know that isn't the case with them. So we don't see them looking at all their options before bailing.

A Russell Wilson is the most potent weapon on an offense, the guy can't be defended because he isn't stuck in the pocket. As we have seen he has done things never done before by anyone at his stage of a career.

"DVOA is a method of evaluating teams, units, or players. It takes every single play during the NFL season and compares each one to a league-average baseline based on situation. DVOA measures not just yardage, but yardage towards a first down: Five yards on third-and-4 are worth more than five yards on first-and-10 and much more than five yards on third-and-12. Red zone plays are worth more than other plays. Performance is also adjusted for the quality of the opponent. DVOA is a percentage, so a team with a DVOA of 10.0% is 10 percent better than the average team, and a quarterback with a DVOA of -20.0% is 20 percent worse than the average quarterback. Because DVOA measures scoring, defenses are better when they are negative"

It has your Ravens as the 2nd best team in the NFL atm, fyi..

Thanks. A big reason why the Ravens are ranked so high might be because of the Tampa game. Flacco's first three touchdowns were on third-down plays. The team also converted a lot of long downs, which I imagine that stat loves.

I doubt that their ranking in that stat gets appreciably worse the next two weeks against the Falcons and Steelers, but it'll probably start to drop when the Ravens play tougher defenses starting with the Cinci game.

Ya, the sample size is pretty small at this point, it usually gets more accurate around week 10 IIRC..

Schedules skew the results, at this point, like you said..

The rookie TD record, regular season. Most wins by any second year QB, regular season. Highest two year QBR rating....regular season. Try knowing about what you "trying' to talk about..ok?

Hey young fella im on your "side"....

"At the end of the day, it's not about statistics," Wilson told NFL Media's Amber Theoharis in an interview Monday on NFL Total Access. "I think, at the end of the day, it's about winning football games, and we do a great job. We still take the ball to the right guy at the right time. We try to have a physical running game. In the division that we play in, we have to be physical."

    All this Wilson talk...

us Bucs fan would trade McCown or Glennon....or ...even McCown and Glennon in a heartbeat for him. I don't think he's a "game manager" type QB. I think the guy is going to be pretty damn good. Did his defense help him win a SB...yeah. But I don't see him as the Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer type.

I read what Malik Hairston posted about what "DOVA" is. I understand what he's talking about....but what does the acronym "DOVA" stand for??

Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer were pretty good QB's on bad teams most of their careers. Russell Wilson inherited an elite defense just like Kaepernick as a rookie.

Thanks...I even had the acronym wrong. It's not DOVA...it's DVOA. Again, thanks.
