One Play That Shows Perfectly Just How Bad The Lakers Will Be This Season

The Los Angeles Lakers are in trouble this year.
One big concern is that the Lakers are not very good defensively and are going to have trouble stopping opponents from scoring. This is no secret.
But maybe the bigger concern is that Kobe Bryant knows this team is not very good and he is going to try and win games all by himself.
The problem with this strategy is other teams know this.
During Wednesday night's loss to the Phoenix Suns, we saw a perfect example of the Lakers' 1-on-5 offense and why it is going to mean a lot of losses in Kobeville.
The play starts with Kobe setting a half-hearted pick for Jeremy Lin.

Kobe now wants the ball. He doesn't get the ball.

Kobe still wants the ball. He still doesn't get the ball.

Kobe still wants the ball. This time he finally gets the ball.

But here is where things really go south. Kobe is now 1-on-1 with the defender at the top of the key. 2012-13 Kobe would already been two steps past the defender on the way to the basket.

Instead, Kobe dances around around and when he does start to make a move we get to see how teams will probably defend the Lakers this season. That is, just throw three defenders at him knowing he probably won't pass the ball.

Both Wesley Johnson and Jeremy Lin, two players who can hit a long shot, are wide open on the wings to take a three-point shot. But Kobe isn't even thinking about passing the ball.
Instead, the shot clock winds down and Kobe is forced to take a long three-pointer. Bryant's shot doesn't even hit the rim and the Lakers went on to lose by 20.
baseline bum and benefactor are gonna love this season regardless of the Spurs quest for repeat.
BTW the gloves are off. The media is going in knee deep on that ass.
the tl;dr of the Lakers 2015 season tbh
This season could never live up to 2012-13 for Laker hating. That was the single biggest failure in NBA history, to be considered the automatic WC champion after Oklahoma dumped Harden and then to only make the playoffs because of 50 FTs against Golden State. And then get the broom.![]()
Short of Kobe having unprotected sex with Magic and getting HIV, I don't see any way 2014-15 could compare to 2012-13 for Laker LOLs.
At the hands of Dynasty, no less.
"WTH are you doing LIN!?!? Dammit you're the in our armor!!!"
Byron Scott will prove that wrong![]()
everything is about right with the exception of wesley johnson "capable" of hitting a shotthat dude is flat out horrible. he missed two wide open 5 footer last night smh

Really, how could it get any worse than to go from being the team that was supposed to dethrone LeBron to getting The Broom followed by The Begging? They're supposed to be a bottom 5 team this year. They're supposed to win 15-20 games. The only way this season could fail for them as badly as 2012-13 is if they go 4-78 and draft Olowokandi II.
Kobe murdering a teammate on the court is a real possibility.
it's gonna suck to see Lin go to jail.
And here's the actual play in real time.

dont forget the bathroom
Damn is it time for the Stephen A "exhausted" sit down interview already? That's usually mid to late season.
Exaggerate, much? i still dont see where the LAkers were auto favorites ...except by Laker homers, uneducated b-ball fans, and Mike Greenberg. No one expected them to suck that bad ... but I dont see how that season is one of the biggest failures, you have to have huge aspirations to be a massive failure. I said 2nd round loss with WCF ceiling and a first round floor. Apparently I know more than all the people that were considering us "automatic" and Im supposed to be a biased Laker fan, smh ...
