LOL what? Grind out close sloppy games? The Spurs got 12 of their 16 playoff wins in 15+ point blowouts.
Interesting snippet from the NFL world.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...o-spurs-of-nflThe Arizona Cardinals sit atop the difficult NFC West and lead the NFL with a 6-1 record. Larry Fitzgerald believes the best is still ahead for the team from the desert, and the wide receiver had an interesting comparison for the Cards' penchant for winning close, scrappy games.
"We're a blue collar, grind-it-out team right now," Fitzgerald told The Arizona Republic. "We're the San Antonio Spurs. We're not flashy. We'll take all those ugly, nasty, sloppy wins. But we're not even close to fulfilling our potential on offense. And it would be nice to put it all together."
We'll attribute the stretch comparison to the multiple-champion Spurs to Fitzgerald catching NBA tip-off fever.
I thought nobody was supposed to like us?![]()

Larry when you win on a constant ie: win 5 les and 6 conference les in 15 years
then you can talk
"28 does not equal 30 Eddie, you will only get the money that you deserve"- Charles Comiskey
If they were winning their games by two touchdowns then they'd be the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL tbh.
In other news the Raiders have been compared to the Lakers of the NFL.
the blue collar label is appropriate but our game is not ugly-not anymore.
Larry Fitzgerald apparently has learned all there is to know about the Spurs from watching ESPN.
^ this, tbh
First exact thing I thought.
that these stigmas about the spurs are still around
i guess the equivalent of the tuck rule is basketball reasons
Did yall catch the world series post game last night on ESPN. ..
Both John Kreuk and Barry Larkin mentioned the Spurs in comparing to the Giants.
This. lol Grind it out ugly wins? WTF?![]()
It's a horrible analogy, granted, but the fact is that people only start making these comparisons when your status as elite has become undeniable; like, "I'm the Michael Jordan of used car salesmen", or whatever. I'm cool with people saying, "we're the spurs of (insert profession) as a means of touting their own perceived greatness; ultimate compliment.
I did. I don't really mind it, but sometimes the Spurs comparisons are way off.
He's in the wrong Spurs era tbh. He's thinking about old 4 down/lock down D days.
Don't care who you compare too, please just beat the Cowboys on Sunday!
He pretty much described the Grizzlies tbh. Still have the Pats and Spurs as the closest org comp.
Well done sir....well done.
So GNSF gets butthurt when the Spurs are ignored, but then even more butthurt when they are praised![]()
In baseball wirh 3 les in 5 years that is almost exactly like the Spurs mid 00s run. I would say the Giants as well.
