not that i believe the moon lands were fake, they weren't but idk about the not having technology back then part. look at these famous holocaust photos from back then that were faked:

The problem with (close proximity) aliens is time. The chances of any other intelligent species being alive and exploring the galaxy close to us right now are tiny. Now, theres probably long dead civilizations relatively close by just waiting to have their ruins rummaged through. But an alive alien culture anywhere close? I dont think so.
