I always thought he was on par with Cam in a weak division. Guy has so many weapons. He's an elite gun slinger right now, like early Cutler. He'll get better but is way overhyped
Don't get me wrong, dude was the best QB prospect coming out of college in a long time, maybe since Elway. All the physical tools, the cerebral approach, the toughness and grit, the clutch wins, the pedigree...
- And then he had the task of replacing Peyton Manning and immediately guided the team to an 11-5 record and a playoff birth.
- He improved his numbers in his second year, and led the team to that amazing playoff comeback performance against the Chiefs.
- Then in his 3rd year he put up elite numbers, throwing for 40 TD's, 4,700 yards, etc.
At this point, people starting naming him among the elites in the league... in the offseason, frequently listing top QB's as (rodgers, brady, manning, luck, ben, etc)
But quite frankly, has he really been all that good, or have we just been victims of confirmation bias? Brushed off his mistakes as non-issues while praising everything he did right. Even his flaws are turned into complements... he throws a pick, and gets Brett Favre comparisons (HOF-er), etc.
I'm not suggesting he's not a good quarterback... and at this point I'd still take him over any QB under the age of 30 moving forward, but did we (NFL fan community) jump the gun a bit regarding his "eliteness?"
i'll just leave a bunch of stats from anonymous qb's as comparisons

i dont think anybody on ST outside of the delusional avante ever anointed wilson as the second coming.
as always, i've firmly been on the Luck > Wilson wagon
but nice deflection. thread about luck? bring up wilson
just like upstairs. thread about kawhi? bring up parker

better than most
lmao, like moncrief/hilton aren't a borderline elite starting WR duo now that my Donte has come into his own, tbh. Gore still has some left in the tank too...
hilton en route to his 3rd straight 1k season. andre johnson coming off 950+ yard season with atrocious QB play despite being the #2 receiver. started his career with reggie wayne who put up 1350 in luck's rookie year. hasselbeck's first game off the bench and fleener ends up with 80+ and a TD.
it's not an elite receiving group, but he certainly has weapons. similar in talent to the chargers receiving group
I think this thread may be premature. Luck was 60% for 312 yards, 3 TDs and no turnovers yesterday. Are the Patriots an elite defense? No but he had been fumbling and throwing a ton of picks before this game. There were some throws that were too long or too short, which has always been one of his flaws (sailing the ball too much). But I think it's very clear that the problem with the 2015 Colts is bad coaching and no depth at many positions on the roster.
Good bump material here
Let's also not forget to talk about the like 1000 yards of offense the Colts have had called back on holding penalties this year, which I guess I already covered when I said their biggest problem is bad coaching.
Coaching, injuries and just bad luck.
But really, don't mean to be a and I know its October, but when does theI had cancer and fought it courageously so I get to keep my job despite my tiness
finally wear off?
The only difference between bortles and luck is the throwing mechanics, tbh
this isn't to say luck can't become elite... i'm just asking if he was declared elite prematurely
Pagano is a mediocre coach, but what he can do is get a team to rally behind him as he gives great speeches. Coaching is definitely the problem but I won't give all the blame to Chuck. I've heard numerous reports saying that GM Ryan Grigson has a say in personell and coaching staff. I can't stand Pep Hamilton, I'm pretty sure he is a Grigson guy and Chuck didn't really have a say.
Speaking of Ryan Grigson, if anything I hope he is the one to go. He's had 4 years to build up an O-line and it seems like it's just getting worse.
Wilson two SB's, Luck.....none!
Delusional?
Now check out their passer ratings for a career.
No QB in history compares to RW after three seasons, none! And he's done it with no stud/great receivers. No Calvin Johnson. Dez Bryant, Antonio Gates, Gronk, Antionio Brown.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As far as Luck goes, he's good but he has played how many games vs Hous/Tenn/Jax?
I've long been on the record saying Pagano will get a longer run and Indy than he deserves because the cancer thing. When the Colts were 0-2, I even suggested to a friend that it would take him getting cancer again for the team to make the playoffs this year.
Philo hedging his bets for future ownage bumps![]()
It's not hedging. I've even said I'd take him over any qb under 30 going forward. He has the ability to be elite. Then again you're the one who calls qb's like Flacco and Eli elite![]()
This will be good bump material in 2 years
Joe Flacco, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New-school Sonny Jurgenson: great QB hamstrung by personnel around him.
What?
When Jurgenson was at Philly he had HOFer Tommy McDonald and Pete Retslaff a great TE. At Washington he had the fantastic Bobby Mitc who retired as the all time leading receiver.
Lucks offensive line & weapons are sub par. They have never had a run game, his TEs have always been average to below average & his WR while decent aren't even in the top 10 WR groups. It's laughable to suggest otherwise
