How is Memphis picking ahead of us, when we lost to them in the regular season. We both finished with 55-27 records, but the pick ahead of us.
How does the NBA determine tie breakers?

It's determined by a coin flip. Chicago also lost their coin flip to the Mavs and Clippers lost theirs to Houston (Lakers's pick).

Only fitting that the Spurs would lose the coin flip. That's about the 4th or 5th one we've lost this year.

The Spurs were the biggest loser of the NBA's playoff tiebreaker system this year. Now they're also a loser of the NBA's draft position tiebreaker.

Strange that playoff tiebreakers don't impact draft order. Understand a coin flip is needed for lottery teams + teams in different conferences, but had there been a four-way tie in the west record-wise, the team with the 6 seed could technically have been picking behind the team with the 2 seed.
