Maybe Pop really wanted the clippers or for whatever reason didn't want dallas. But he coached to lose. Barely calling a timeout in the first half while the pels were blowing us out, he never got T'd up, sticking with belli and manu who were awful while green sat on the bench, we needed D the offense was fine shooting 57%. I don't care what anyone says he did not coach like he gave a .

I was def. expecting Pop to treat it like a playoff game and quickly call timeouts whenever the team made mistakes... Maybe he didn't want to give his team a vibe that if they lost, they tried their best. Instead, they'll live with whatever result happened tonight. Duncan didn't even seem phased.

Clippers are a better matchup than the Mavs. Rivers hasn't figured out Pop's system yet, Carlisle has. Clippers won against the Spurs when they were injured and in a funk. When the Spurs are healthy, they are the better team.

This team doesn't need HCA, though it would be nice. I still believe, the only team they need HCA against was OKC, a healthy OKC team. Any other team, they can beat soundly on their home floor. Just look to the OKC and then Miami series last year. Honestly, Spurs can do what they did to the Heat to any team in this playoffs.

I am a little fed up with this talk that the Spurs showed last season they can win on the road. But it is much easier to win a road game with a 2:0, 2:1 or 3:1 lead in a series, because the pressure is on the trailing team. Bottom line is the Spurs are not a good road team this season and the playoff path is even more difficult this time, because the Clips are good, Rockets/Mavs are dangerous and Golden State with HCA ... whew.

No, the Spurs have won more playoff games and regular season games on the road than any team in the NBA over the past 2 1/2 years. Spurs had a horrible road record early this season because of the injury bug that hit them in mid-season (mid Dec to Feb). Pressure is on every game to win every game when it comes to the playoffs. Spurs were tied 1:1 to the Heat. All the pressure was on them last year.

Monty played for the Spurs, started his coaching under Pop's management, he is considered as one of member of Spurs sphere of influence

word is Pop gave up this game so that one of his favorite makes the PO

I can't help but think about that, as paranoid as it sounds...

Between the 1st qt and the hacking that stoped our momentum, his coaching was weird...

I don´t know about that, but given how we´ve played this year it seems to me that the team suffers a lot when we focus our offense on parker than when we focus our offense on leonard.
Is there a way to look up the spurs record when Parker gets more shot attempts than Kawhi and the other way around?
It would be interesting to check that out.
About this game it looked that Pop didn´t want to show his cards so that no scouter could take a lot out of the game, the problem is it wasn´t enough to win it.
Bad coaching by pop lost the game for sure, and the Spurs really have a lot of trouble containing teams with good bigs without Splitter.

Clippers are the better matchup IMO. Their defense is . They're a treadmill team and that doesn't work in the Playoffs. Even without Splitter at full strength (or at all) I like the Spurs' chances. Green/Leonard duo is going to hound the out Paul, make this series extremely difficult. Diaw is an underrated defender, he'll keep up with Griffin as long as its not a fastbreak. Baynes--throw him into the fire. Doubt he's mobile enough to keep up with Griffin, but Banger can/will IMO get under the skin of Griffin/Jordan with his muscle. If we have to, throw KL on Griffin and have Green/Cojo on CP3.

One the other end, who stops TP (aside from himself, and if he's ready to go)? That's always been their problem. Parker kills them, igniting our offense. Then it turns into a slugfest, and they just can't keep up. Now throw in KL--they've got nobody to guard him.

Clipps have to hope TP stops himself (granted he done a lot of that this season, worrisome) and that Griffin goes off without Splitter. I don't see either happening for enough of a series.

Champions can't be afraid of facing any team. You just gotta beat whoever gets in your way. The west is a mind-field anyway, every freaking first round series will be tough. Always good to get a loss before the playoffs start instead of entering on a big winning streak, aka 2012. 9-1 in the last 10. Buckle up, it's gonna be an awesome ride. There is more pressure on the Clips in game 1 to maintain home court advantage. We got this. Hack-a-Jordan coming soon to a tv screen near you.

It's hard to argue with the Spurs finishing the season 11-1. It's kind of like saying if they had finished 12-0, that would mean Pop is a good coach, but since they finished 11-1, that's proof that he's not...
