Chinese woman, 116, bids for record
A 116-year-old Chinese woman hopes to enter the record books for being the world's oldest woman.
Li Ada, who says she was born in 1889, is applying for recognition from the Guinness Book of Records, reports Xinhua News.
The world's oldest woman is officially Elizabeth Bolden, of Memphis, Tennessee, who was 115 last month.
Li, who lives at an old people's home in Suzhou city, Jiangsu province, walks with a stick but still has a clear mind and is in good health.
Workers at the home encouraged her to apply for the record.
What are they going to do, carbon date her?
I don't know that I'd ever want to live that long....and most likely out live my kids ... given the time-frame of her birth/growing up, she could conceivably have kids about 100 years old.
