I also thought that there was a naval repair depot there. What's going to happen to it?
NAS Ingleside needs to be removed from BRAC 05 list.
We need the Iwo Jima and it's choppers here in the gulf in case we get hit by a storm.

Vash, the Iwo isn't homeported at NAS Ingleside.
If I remember the news right (I work down the road from NAS Ingleside during the week), the repair depot you're thinking of is at NAS Corpus Christi and supports the minesweeper helo squadron. The helos are going to California and, I think, the maintenance facility is going to the East Coast.
No, this is a repair facility where they refit small boats like RIBs and workboats.
That's a new one on me. I downloaded the BRAC stuff about the closures a while back, and I don't remember reading anything about that. The only things I can remember about Ingleside is that the mine warfare school would be relocated to California (along with the helos) and the minesweepers are due to be decomissioned starting 2006 and won't be replaced by anything as there are other ships/helos that do the same thing now.
Well, maybe it's so small that it wasn't even worth mentioning within the base's assets.
Either that, or its supposted to be classified and I have made myself an enemy of the state.
Ah yea it's just the mine ships.. Well they have chopper pad anyway.
