Not much of a country fan but this dude is pretty good...
Not the type of lyrics you would expect from a country artist
I've seen Jesus play with flames in a lake of fire that I was standing in
Met the devil in Seattle and spent 9 months inside the lions den
Met Buddha yet another time and he showed me a glowing light within
But I swear that God is there every time I glare in the eyes of my best friend
Says my son it's all been done and someday yer gonna wake up old and gray
So go and try to have some fun showing warmth to everyone
You meet and greet and cheat along the way
There's a gateway in our mind that leads somewhere out there beyond this plane
Where reptile aliens made of light cut you open and pull out all your pain
Tell me how you make illegal something that we all make in our brain
Some say you might go crazy but then again it might make you go sane
Every time I take a look inside inside that old and fabled book
I'm blinded and reminded of the pain caused by some old man in the sky
Marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, and DMT they all changed the way I see
But love's the only thing that ever saved my life
So don't waste your mind on nursery rhymes
Or fairy tales of blood and wine
It's turtles all the way down the line
So to each their own til' we go home
To other realms our souls must roam
To and through the myth that we all call space and time
Avante what are your thoughts on this dude. one man show, guitar in hand, percussion with feet. saw him live about a year ago, thought it was a really neat act. not the kind of stuff i listen to every day, but it was cool
What's not to like? Other than he could put a little more into looking the part. I will be mixing that later tonight. Which is the fun I have with music. Putting together my own productions. Trying to tell a story, keep a mood.
I will be searching out his other stuff, thanks
If you like him you might also like Dylan LeBlanc and this guy...
not bad. again, it's not a genre i regularly dive into, but some variety is always cool
So what do you usually dive into, chances are I have some stuff there also.
rock and metal from the 60's through 80's is my go-to
some newer bands have done a solid job of emulating that sound. Wolfmother was pretty great (at least their first album), Muse up until this most recent album. Arctic Monkeys to a degree as well
Did you decide on that sound after giving other sounds a try? Or were you just always around that sound coming up? I was raised on country music and Ray Charles. Then I started widdening my horizons. Got into other stuff.
Well I grew up in the 90's and 2000's, so the music around me was more hip hop/pop/ R&B (and I know the modern "r&b" is quite different than the original rhythm and blues).
I got into the older stuff because the old man is a fan of that music, and I took it upon myself to find more of it, including less celebrated bands like Triumph, UFO, etc.
My mom was classically trained on the piano, and I played in my earlier youth as well, but I never really got into that music too heavily. Being in LA my whole life, I wasn't really exposed to country or too much blues enough to get into it yet. My gf always gets me to go see acts of all types (like shake graves) so I try to keep diverse
Obviously you already know about the rock, metal, hip hop etc cats. So let me turn ya on to some ya might not be aware of because they really do't fit into those genres. Just something to check out now and then. You turned me on to Graves and thank you, I like his sound.
All my family played something, my mom also played the piano, all my sisters could play the fiddle, mandolin, violin. Dad played ther guitar and I played the harmonica, drums. Would pick up on the slide guitar years later.
