"No official decisions have been made regarding retirement, but Duncan and Ginobili are in the twilight of their respective careers. In the event of a return, the Spurs expect Duncan and Ginobili to take discounts to facilitate the potential acquisition of free agent LaMarcus Aldridge".

TP should help too tbh, maybe a 50% cut?

One option to create flexibility would be to deal Tiago Splitter, who earns $8.5 million next season. However, Stein reports that the Spurs rebuffed offers for Splitter during Thursday's draft.

But the Spurs will likely part ways with their other free agents, which includes Cory Joseph, Marco Belinelli, and Danny Green. There's simply not enough money to re-sign everyone.

Not really sure how losing everyone for Aldridge makes the team any better. Sounds like the Spurs will be quite a bit worse.

Spurs have to at least keep one of Danny Green or Tiago Splitter. Losing both would be too big of a hit defensively. If that means trading both Splitter and Mills to re-sign Green to what he's worth, then we gotta do it. But losing Splitter & Green will not be made up by Aldridge.

Green needs to follow The Big Three lead as well and take a discount In favor of a long term deal.

Green doesn't have the money that Duncan and Manu have. Why should he give up his only opportunity to get millions? So Spur fan can maybe get another le?

lol get the over it - how does the constant ing in every thread change anything?

I'm pretty positive everyone on the forum knows where you stand on TP. Yep, he def blew goats for quarters last season, but I'm pretty confident that he'll be healthier next season and ready to get back to the level of play we've known for many years.

    Duncan was underpaid last year.

    A further discount?

If it's Duncan's idea, fine. But I wouldn't just "expect" it.

Any chance at a San Antonio media member would ask him this?
They've been such long time pussies it would seem to be a one in a million chance but......

IMO no he is a backup at best, he is overrated in here though for some reason because of his one month of play in December.

Paying Manu anything for next season is absurd. If you let younger championship contributors walk, so you can pay Manu to play terribly in what few playoffs games the Spurs play in with a weakened roster next year.... LMAO

Spurs should definitely keep Green unless he gets a near max offer, which I doubt he will. Green's cap hold is pretty low at $6 million I think. Spurs need Green, he's the only legitimate wing player not named Leonard the Spurs will have left after Beli leaves. Spurs were already short on depth in the wings spot with Mills playing SG and Diaw mostly as a PF. Ginobili will be old and unreliable to paly 82 games. Anderson isn't ready. Spurs need Green more than Splitter honestly even though I'd rather keep both.

Cap increase will come soon. Even if we don't compete very well next year, the years after we will with a core of Kawhi and aldrige. End game in mind, not the now. Playing for now is just a cherry on top.

You need all-stars to win les. It's much harder to find an all-star big man in today's game than you can find wings and scorers.

It sucks we might lose Danny and Tiago (Marco I expected to leave earlier in the year), but I'll take Aldridge over them because it'll be easier to find replacements for them.
