Do they have a rule on how heavy it can be?
I don't know what the max a garbage can can weigh, but I have the body of Scott Weiland at the height of his herion addiction and I picked it up. Don't tell me it's too heavy to lift. Atleast take me up on the offer to dump it myself.
Do they have a rule on how heavy it can be?
I don't know....I've left some pretty heavy crap out there and never have had an issue. I think he was just being lazy.

Yes! 45 lbs.
You've got to be kidding me.
I and guess that somehow TWO of them can't lift the can, right?
I always check my trash cans to be sure they are not too heavy.
I figure if I have trouble lifting it than so will the sanitation workers.
That's mighty neighborly of you, Joe.![]()
BFI will take anything you throw away.
They will even take furniture, couches, refrigerators, etc. if you call ahead.
This may also have something to do with them getting free candy and pies from my parent's pecan store.
45+ lbs is a lot of garbage to produce in 3 or 4 days between pickups.
What's the problem with spliting your 50 lbs of crap into two or more containers under the 45 lb limit?
Is there also a limit of only one container per pick-up per household?
I've never really been in the habit of weighing my trash.
We have the city provided garbage cans so the truck does all the work.
No.....no limit on number of containers.
I just moved into the house a month ago and I'm still dumping out that was in the storage shed. I've been spreading out the load and I might even understand if I took it all out at once.
I only have two trashcans. I could take some of the trash out and save it in my backyard so they can pick it up on Friday, OR they could let me lift the can 2 feet off the ground and dump it in the garbage truck since 50 pounds is too much for a man that has a hundred pounds on me easily.
I think this is just a case of "I feel like being an asshole today". I mean really, who am I going to call and complain to?
"Hi. I'm calling because my trashcan weighed 50 pounds or so and the garbage wouldn't take it."
I have two containers, but I usually only fill one of them per week.
Sometimes, they'll check the empty one and move on without emptying the other one. Like they only have time to check one can at a time.
I've even had this happen when the full one was in front.
I like watching them throw some of the cans on the curb or in the street.
Of course not all of them do it. I never had any problems when I lived in my old house.
I also don't understand why people park their cars in front of teh garbage cans.

must be these guys
Oh yeah, that's another thing... they leave the containers right smack in the middle of the friggin driveway so I have to get out of my car and move them to get into my garage.
Little things, man... Little things.
Maybe you need to start now, 45lbs or more and you may be stuck with twice as much trash for a few days. And how do you know it is 45lb limit?
Just curious Hook Dem.
What a great movie. I appreciate these movies so much more now.
Yeah i love that movie, they go bowling with our trash
They are in the process of putting in an automated can and lifter...
