How fast would those butt s solve the shutdown if their salaries were stopped? No to mention free medical, dental etc.

Just how much do members of Congress bring home?
They've been receiving an annual salary since 1855, when they were paid $3,000 per year. Currently, "the compensation for most Senators, Representatives, Delegates, and the Resident Commissioner from Puerto Rico is $174,000," the Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports, with a few exceptions. They also receive retirement, health and other benefits. Here's a breakdown of the annual salary of members, officers and officials of the House. Salaries have not gone up since 2009, CRS notes.

Speaker of the House: $223,500Majority and Minority Leaders: $193,400All other Representatives (including Delegates and Resident Commissioner from Puerto Rico): $174,000Chief Administrative Officer: $172,500Clerk of the House: $172,500Sergeant at Arms: $172,500Chaplain: $172,500Legislative Counsel: $172,500Law Revision Counsel: $172,500Parliamentarian: $172,500Inspector General: $172,500Director, Interparliamentary Affairs: $172,500General Counsel to the House: $172,500Here's a breakdown of the annual salary of members, officers and officials of the Senate:President pro tempore: $193,400

Not all members of Congress are accepting pay during the shutdown. More than 70 say they're refusing their salaries while the stalemate continues, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts). She tweeted on January 1 that she would be donating her salary to HIAS, a nonprofit that helps refugees.

And Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas tweeted on January 10 that he couldn't "in good conscience get paid while federal employees' financial futures hang in the balance because of this partial government shutdown. I've asked the Chief Administrative Officer to withhold my pay until we have come to an agreement to adequately fund border security."

impossible, the oligarchy has so gamed, weaponized the Cons ution in their favor, that they'd spend $Bs to defeat amendments that touch their cheese, and they are installing their political-hacks-in-robes throughout the Federal judiciary, as well.

And the Cons ution sucks is so many ways, that we need a new one. One of the worst is preferencing area (eg, under-populated, de-populating Western states) over populated states, resulting in a Senate and govt controlled by a tiny minority of the population.

The house has has passed legislation to reopen the government and the senate has refused to take it to a vote, not sure why the speaker of the house is to blame.

That compensation can be made one cent during the shutdown. And even then, I'm not sure they are Cons utionally guaranteed the money if they're not actually doing their jobs.

Well, the amount, as it says there, can only be ascertained by law. Congress itself is the only branch of government that can make laws, so it's a bind.

On the other hand, in order to ensure Congress wouldn't continually raise their own salaries, the 27th Amendment was created, which says changes in compensation can only happen after Congressional elections.

Oh so you knew he would also likely shut you down with a post about the 27th amendment.
