Jerusalem Gay Pride: Six stabbed 'by ultra-Orthodox Jew'
A police spokesperson told the BBC that the suspect was the same man who stabbed three people at the parade in 2005.
Yishai Schlissel, an ultra-Orthodox Jew, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for that attack and was released from prison three weeks ago.
Two of the injured are in a serious condition, the ambulance service said.
Eyewitnesses told Israel's Haaretz newspaper that the attacker emerged behind marchers and began stabbing them while screaming, before being tackled by a police officer.

Schlissel was released from prison just three weeks ago
Yishai Avior told Israel's Channel 2 TV he heard screaming and saw three people on the ground bleeding.
"People ran in every direction to take cover... There was immense panic and shock,'' he said.
The parade continued after the wounded were taken to a hospital, with protesters chanting "end the violence".
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attack contradicted the country's "basic values".
"In the state of Israel the individual's freedom of choice is one of basic values. We must ensure that in Israel, every man and woman lives in security in any way they choose. That's how we acted in the past and how we'll continue to act. I wish the wounded a speedy recovery," he said in a statement.
Hundreds of police are deployed along the parade route to prevent violence breaking out. Jerusalem police spokesman Asi Ahroni told Reuters there was a "massive presence" of police at the parade but "unfortunately the man managed to pull out a knife and attack".
The event has long been a source of tension between Jerusalem's secular majority and its Jewish Orthodox communities.
Ultra-Orthodox Jews have previously gathered in the city's Mea Shearim quarter to protest against sexuality.

The 18-month-old boy was killed at the family home in Duma in the nighttime attack. His parents and four-year-old brother were injured.

“I do not accept this court’s authority,” said a defiant Yishai Shlissel, representing himself at a hearing.
“This court is part of the mechanism of evil,” Haaretz newspaper’s website quoted him as saying. “I have no interest in cooperating at all. I do not recognise any of the regime’s ins utions.”

Media reported that Shlissel had posted a letter on the Internet speaking of the “abomination” of a Gay Pride parade being held in the Holy City.
Television also broadcast extracts of an interview he was said to have given to a radio station earlier this month in which he said “the fight continues against those who defile” God.

I don’t understand why Christians act like sexuality is a sin greater than others. Sin is sin. Sex outside of marriage is strictly forbidden whether it is with yourself, with an animal, with a girl you meet at a club, or a longtime girlfriend before marriage. Christians need to look at themselves in the mirror before automatically shunning a gay person. Now, if you do believe it’s a sin, pray for them, etc but treat it like any other sin. I don’t understand how the obsession got so out of control. Just because the news makes something a big deal doesn’t mean you have to take the bait every single time.
Now being opposed to gay marriage is a totally different story. All Orthodox/Catholic marriage ceremonies specifically talk about conceiving a child out of intercourse so to recognize sexuality in marriage would be a tremendous heresy. Which is why they should continue to take a stand in that area.
