When all the water resides and all the homes are razed, FEMA will bring in 200,000 trailer homes that will be used as temp. housing for the next 5 years as New Orleans is rebuilt.

To me that would have to be the dumbest thing they could do.

If any kind of hurricane hits New Orleans again, that's 200,000 homes destroyed.

thats what they normaly do though isn't it?

when we had the flood of '98 down in Victoria and surrounding area, a bunch of people got FEMA trailers.. even if they didin't get FEMA $$$ or had a good insurance policy.
But they only got to stay in them for 3 yrs.

of course with no FEMA $$ and no Ins. $$ alot of those people just ended up buying the trailer from FEMA at the end of the 3yrs....

I can understand a few (maybe 100) FEMA trailers but 200,000?

If a storm hits, they can just tow the trailers, people, and all away to safety and that way they won't be critized again.

They'd never be able to get 200,000 trailers out of the city in time.

If you think little cars caused a lot of congestion , just wait until you have a car towing a trailer, and 200,000 of them.

Tow 200,000 trailers before the day or two before a storm hits?

What I would hope that the below sea-level part of NO be filled in, at least a substantial part, but it sounds like instead, the people will be moved back as fast as possible.

Put a chain on the bottom of the trailer with about 20 feet of play, and put inflatable pontoon floats on either side of the trailer.

Storm comes, they can float the trailers

That sounds like a business opportunity...hmmm.

I better get on it before Cheney gives the contract to Halliburton.

LOL...yeah...but at the point you decided to get inside it would probably look pretty good compared to the alternative...
