"If Bush is to blame for such a high death toll, then shouldn't he also get the credit for the number of casualties being so low?"
That's the question my neo-con niece asked me yesterday afternoon right before I dropped her off on the turnpike. Naturally, I blew it off as the ignorant bleatings of a brainwashed Nazi larvae. But as her wailing visage grew smaller in my rear view mirror, I couldn't help but wonder if she had clumsily stumbled onto something.
The staggeringly high body count in the latest of Bush's hurricanes was a monument to his incompetence, if not his intense hatred for blacks. Compassionate democrats had looked forward to surfing the tide of human suffering all the way to the 2008 elections. Now, with the number of casualties significantly lower than the 10,000 we had counted on, many of us are left wondering where it all went right.
Granted, 279 [now close to 500 -TRO] dead is nothing to sneeze at. Democrats might be able to milk it for a few votes, but nowhere near what they need to repeal Bush's tax cuts and put the Hillary-Obama ticket over the top in 2008. Sadly, we soon may have to face the undeniable truth that a good deal of people survived Hurricane Katrina.
Very convenient for the Shrub, isn't it?
Almost TOO convenient.
Oh man, what a great site.
Yeah, and in listening to Air America, I believe they get most of their talking points from a guy that is mocking them.
Don't get me wrong. I love these progressive icons as much as abortion itself.
This guy is good.
I've been checking that out since I started recieving satellite radio. It's....uh.....entertaining.
Yeah, I happened upon them the other day...wow! Listened to about 15 minutes of the Randy Rhoades show; the words "I hate" were used no less than 50 times in that short span.
You guys gotta check out Stephanie Miller she blows that blow-hard Rush Limbaugh away. You gotta hook up your radio to the toaster to get 92.5 FM(she's on at the same time as Limbaugh) or you can download her Stephcast in MP3 format from her website here
Okay, I listened for a complete hour today. They spent it all on #1) Fire Rove, #2) Fire the head of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, #3) getting Bush to resign or be impeached. All supported with the usual baseless rhetoric and talking points...mixed in with a lot of name calling and invective.
Seriously, I've never heard such an angry group of people. I see where Nbadan and boutons get it from...
One word for you guys... THERAPY.
Oh wait! I almost forgot...there was one humorous moment. They got some non-journalist to sneak past the National Guard and hook up with a 9th Ward evacuee for an interview. They built up to the moment by talking about how incompetent was the federal response and, obviously, were hoping the poor soul would confirm their rhetoric. Alas, the guy blamed Nagen. The host started to lead him but he was having none of that.
And, get this, it's the best part. He was blaming Nagen for allowing the feds (well, he never really said who actually did it), but, for allowing whomever did it to blow the levees in the 9th Ward.
I kept hoping they would ask him if he resorted to eating any of his neighbors.
It was pretty entertaining. Of course, the non-journalist talked about having an M-16 pointed at her car and being escorted out of the disaster zone (before sneaking back in)...then she started throwing crap out there such as 4 year olds in shelter having guns pointed at them for being hyper.
That's when it turned sour and I switched back to something more sane.

Try listening to Rush Limbaugh.
I have...and there's a lot more laughter and a lot more talk about Conservative issues instead just sitting around bashing liberals.
But, he's too bombastic and, I don't listen to him regularly anyway...
You're either lying or have not been listening to the show.
Three posts and you're calling me a liar? That's got to be some kind of record...
Seeya.
You are a liar. Because I listened to the show for the better part of last week, and the week before. He's been focusing on liberals the entire time. All he talks about is how they are using Katrina for their own agendas.
Yeah? And they are... What's your point? I'm betting he didn't refer to any Democrats as being members of a crime family or a junta. Both of which were repeated over and over again in my short experience with Air America. Combine that with the host's repeated use of the phrase "I hate" yesterday, and I think you've got a problem.
Oh, and Rush Limbaugh's program is self sufficient. I don't think he's ever had to steal from widows and orphans to keep his show on the air.
I don't really have a point, but Rush does not just sit around and talk strictly about conservative issues. Unless his conservative issues are talking about liberals. I guess he doesn't really bash them, but he sure does like saying the word liberal alot.
I won't argue with that...
Rush is an asshole. Just listen to an Progressive show on 92.5 and notice that the hosts give their call-in guests pretty free reign to state their opinions, even if they are completely wrong, but Rush won't do that. As soon as a Progressive manages to sneak past the call screeners and makes a negative comment about the administration Rush immediately cuts the caller off and starts to spin it as 1. a liberal conspiracy 2. A plot by Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean and Micheal Moore 3. A liberal web blogger.
What's Rush afraid of? Is he afraid of callers who aren't compete political novices whom he can manipulate at will? Common Rush, get that ass wart that kept you out of Vietnam looked after, and grow some nads - biatch!
Is that true?
Yes. Rush Limbaugh got out of military service in Nam because he had a ass wart.
Here are some photos from W's recent trip to New OLeans' you may have not seen...
